I love me some Disney but I think with a 1 year old you wouldn't get to enjoy it too much. Personally I wouldn't to save stress and money for when she's older.
I don't think they have to remember to enjoy it but at 12 months I know T wouldn't have been up for it!

We took DD when she was 20 months. I could have definitely passed. She enjoyed some of the shows (Nemo and Lion King) but didn't see too many animals that we didn't have at a zoo.

@artsyfartsy: Thanks, she LOVED Seaworld around 10months and a local zoo, I totally get her not being 100% into it, but she loves new sights and animals...

@T.H.O.U.: Were the animals close?! Like at a zoo?! I can't remember this part?!

AK is not worth it, in my opinion. It's not a very good zoo and there are not a ton of great rides. It was totally meh for me, except for the Expedition Everest ride.

@FaithFertility: no. You see them on the one safari ride (giraffes Etc) but it's at a distance and the bus keeps driving.
Jax zoo was much better IMO.

We were in town for a family reunion and decided to drop by Animal Kingdom. LO was 14 months. We really enjoyed it and had a great time. Went on safari, saw animals walking around, met some characters, saw shows, etc. It was kinda low key and she enjoyed it. We also bought her a Minnie doll while there and her obsession started for a good year on all things Minnie.

Animal Kingdom is not my favorite out of the four parks BUT we took my son when he was 20 months and he loved it! DD is 15 months and I really think she would love it too because she's sooo into animals right now.

Yes, we loved Animal Kingdom. Can't wait to go back again. Out of all of the parks, this is probably best for 10 months. If you had to choose a park. Low key, outdoorsy, nice stroll. A bit pricy though.

We took D when he was 2.5. He loved the Lion King show, and probably would have loved the Nemo show had he not been totally over-exhausted. There was just 1 ride he could ride, plus the safari. But other than those 4 things, there's not much for a really young kid to do there.

I love Animal Kingdom, I think it's actually the best place to see characters, so if it's character pictures you're after, you might have the most luck there.
As for stuff to do, I like Rafiki's Petting Zoo.
