@tysonja: congrats! I've only ever heard of it pronounced "Aneeka" to rhyme with Anita and that was on the tv show Empire. I dont know anyone in real life with the name. I voted for Anika but I can see people pronouncing that wrong

Our daughter probably would have been named Annika, except that DH rhymes it with Monica, and I rhyme it with Danica. Love this name!
The Anika spelling makes me question whether it is supposed to have a long E sound in the middle (uh-NEE-kah, like the actress Anika Noni Rose).

Love Annika rhyming with Monica or Danika, either one—but I’m honestly not sure how to pronounce it makes me wonder if she’d be in for a lifetime of correcting people.
@lady baltimore: I loved the name Thalia and every time my husband saw it on my list he’d pronounce the Th like “the” or “that” instead of with a silent H. Totally killed it for me if her own dad couldn’t figure it out.

Annika and rhymes w Monica because of i mostly think of it as a Northern European/Scandinavian name and would follow that pronounciation; I think it’s a lovely name

I know an Anneke that rhymes with Monica but 99% of people wouldn't know that

I think I have know exactly two people named Annika, one pronounced each way. So I would definitely have to ask which way. I like both versions but dislike that she would have to correct people.

If you really like the rhymes-with-Monica pronunciation, I have seen Onnika before.
@LCTBQE: Yeah, my DH tried to say that it would be okay, we'd just pronounce it differently. Can you imagine how confusing that would be for the kid?!?

i think it depends on how you want people to pronounce her name.
I would assume Anika = a-knee-ka, and Annika = ah-nick-ka, and i would have no idea how Anneke would be pronounced.
It's a lovely name, no matter what you decide. Congrats!
