I was wondering if anyone that takes these medications has bad hurt-burn from them, i never had heartburn before until i started these meds, and if so which one would be causing it mostly and would folic acid help me out? or should i call my doctor tomorrow and let her know about it?

I don't take either but have some pharmacy experience. Are you eating with them? I know synthroid is suppose to be taken on an empty stomach - about an hour to two hours before eating.

I don't take progesterone, just synthroid, but I do have a history of GERD and the synthroid does not aggravate it at all. I take it first thing in the am then wait an hour or so before eating.

They didnt cause heartburn for me.
Synthroid on empty stomach in AM. -
I take 200mcg of Synthroid daily. I also have Crohn's disease and can get flares that cause heartburn. But in the almost 10 years I've been on Synthroid, I've never had heartburn that I attributed to the medication.

@LindsayInNY: i havent been eating with the synthroid at all, my husband gets up at 4am every morning for work so when he wakes me up to lock the doors after he leaves i take my snythroid then because i know i wont eat anything for like 4 hours later cause i will be asleep till like 8am

I haven't experienced any heartburn. I have been taking my Synthroid at night before bed (after not eating for 2-4 hours).

@pui: yeah i called my doctor and even the pharmacy to check and see and they said these meds should cause heartburn/acid reflex but i forgot to mention that i am taking Vitamin D 5,000 IU daily and i looked online and some people have had heartburn/acid reflex with it so not sure

@BrentLee88: I don't think Vitamin D typically causes heartburn. When do you take it (time of day) and with what, if anything (food, water, empty stomach, etc.)? That could have something to do with it. Could it be the progesterone? Your doctor can help but I would suggest calling your pharmacy. Your pharmacist likely gets questions like this ALL the time and can help too!

@BrentLee88: I take vitamin D top and never had problems. I take it in the evenings far away from my synthroid dose. Synthroid shouldn't be taken within several hours of other meds (I think it's at least 4) as doing so can inhibit synthroid from working properly.

@LindsayInNY: i get up at 4am and take my synthroid because after my husband leaves for work i know i will sleep and still have an empty stomach for it, then i get up at about 8:30 and eat cereal and take my vitamin D and Pro Prenatal pill, then i don't take my progesterone until about 8pm at night, so i don't eat with it, i take all these with water pretty much, i just called them and they said they really wasn't sure that the synthroid or progesterone causes this but i forgot to mention the vitamin D and prenatal vitamins i am taking as well

@BrentLee88: If you're taking the vitamin D and prenatal with food, I don't think that would be the cause of it. Is it just occasional heartburn or 24/7? Does it happen at a specific time of day?

@LindsayInNY: it happens more around about 11 till about 3 everyday its weird, i never had it before it just comes and goes every other day or so
