We have been prescribed an antibiotic. I can't get my LO to take it. The doc suggested mixing with 1-2 oz of formula. I've fought with her for over 40 minutes to drink 1/2 of it. She won't drink a plain formula bottle now either...
I'm looking for real mom advice on how to get her to take it. She doesn't really want to take tylenol either.

I always give my lo meds when she's really hungry, she'll usually suck it down right away just because she wants something in her belly. Did you try using a dropper and putting it super far back in her mouth?

I've seen my friend hold her baby's nose which forces the baby to open her mouth and take the medicine from the dropper. It was kinda hard for me to watch her do that but hey it got the medicine into the babies system and she ate fine afterwards and slept very well

If it's in solid form, crush it, put it on a spoon, mix it with water or juice, open her mouth and shove it in. if you can get it in a dropper that'd work better.

I didn't try a dropper/syrienge because it smelled pretty bad. She won't take tylenol by dropper anymore either. Why can't medicine be tasteless or at least formula flavored rather than fruity?
I will try the super hungry route and/or the nose option tomorrow. Thank goodness the antibiotics are only once daily and for five days. One down, four to go.
The antibiotics and tylenol make the nebulizer look like a cake walk now. I'll be glad when we are over this.

How old is she? When my daughter absolutely wouldn't take her meds I would mix it with a little wattered down apple juice.

This is horrible, but it works. My son has been on many since 2 months old.
Put it in a syringe. Lay your LO on their back with their head in your crotch. Hold their arms down with their legs and hold their head still with your thighs. Open their mouth with one hand, and squirt the medicine into their mouth, They hate it, but it gets it down. Good luck!

She's four months old, so new juice for us. I might have made a mistake by not having flavoring added at the pharmacy. But I knew she hates the berry tylenol so I didn't know what would be a good choice, bubblegum?
@Rosie Girl - doesn't that result in gagging, how do you make your son swallow?

@MamaG: If you put it in far enough back, its reflex to swallow. He would spit some out, but the majority of it would go down.
