Has anyone done a road trip at bedtime with success? We are driving 8 hours and want to leave at midnight. Any tips??

We left for a 10 hour trip around 3pm once... stopped for dinner, put LO in her pjs and she slept until we arrived at 1. It worked very well (she was 8 months old at the time). The trip back home was horrific as we left early in the morning and traveled during the day. I don't know how my LO would do being transferred to carseat in the middle of the night, but she will fall asleep in the car/dark pretty easily. Good luck!

@cmomma17: well we took a 2 hr trip last weekend and on the way there she slept the whole time because it was still early morning for her but the way back was a nightmare.

@LulaBee: thanks! I might leave to come home Friday night at bedtime instead of Saturday day!

@anonysquire: i have twin girls and when they were 13 months we took an 8 hr road trip to final destination and an 8 hr road trip returning home.
Their bedtime is 7:30, we left at 7 and both way they slept the entire time. The did cry out about once every couple of hours, we think it was a combination of readjusting themselves in their seats as well as their convertible car seats were new to them at the time.
I have to say, who knows what the real reason for their cry outs was - to this day we're trying to figure these girls out, ha!!!
Good Luck, we'll be doing the same drive again at the end of December - fingers crossed at 25 months it goes as well as it did at 13 months!
