I have a high efficiency washer so I'm not sure how to prep my BumGenius diapers - is the process different? I just realized I don't know what kind of detergent to use or anything since I'm dealing with an HE machine.
Nesting = thwarted.

I have an HE machine and I use 1tbsp Rockin' Green detergent. Usually I do a cold wash no rinse, then a hot wash and 2 cold rinse cycles to wash my cloth dipes and it's been good so far. I'd imagine you'd just prep them the same as you would in a top loader ... at least, I did

I have a top loading HE machine. Prepping isn't a big deal with things like microfiber. Wash a few times on hot, one of those being with soap. I used 1 Tbsp. of Tiny Bubbles with the most success.

@Ginger333: @pelikila: Did you separate out your colors when you prepped? I'm thinking I need to divide my lights and darks.

@pelikila: I'm thinking my top loading HE washer isn't doing a good enough job on the initial soak before the hot wash. Any tips? I feel like our fitteds could be getting cleaner.

@grizz: I never had issues with colors running so I wouldn't say it is needed.

@aprk: **Understand what I am about to say will sound overboard but I had repelling issues early on and when I finally found what worked I refused to change it because stripping diapers is hard work.**
For fitteds I found keeping a wet pail (only for fitteds) was the best way to prevent ammonia build up. I put a regular 5-gal plastic bucket filled about 1/2 way with water and about a 1/4 cup of Bac-Out and put fitteds in there to soak between washings. I washed diapers 3 days a week once past the newborn phase.
My standard washing routine was this for both fitteds and pockets: Warm rinse and spin twice. One hot wash/warm rinse with 1 Tbsp. Tiny Bubbles and 1/2 scoop Oxi-Clean Free. Warm rinse and spin twice. Dry in dryer on low or hang to dry.

Yep, front loader. I prep like normal. Wash with detergent (Country Save) 2x and then 3 more washes without detergent. (That's for cotton diapers). No separating colors. I don't have time for that. My normal wash routine is prewash w/ just water, hot wash with detergent and "water plus" feature, then two extra rinses. All clean!

@pelikila: got it - thanks! I'm thinking we need to look into the bac-out.

I have a front loading HE washer. We spray diapers with BacOut when putting them in wet bag. Colors and whites go together (BG Freetimes), first a cold rinse, then a hot wash with a tablespoon of Rockin' Green, extra cold rinse, then into dryer or line dry, depending on the weather. I dry on low for 60 minutes.
