The Log Jam restaurant is pretty cute: http://www.logjamrestaurant.com/
Disclaimer- I haven't been there in a long time but I remember the food being good.

I did white water rafting when I camped there many many years ago. There is also this web site.

We used to own a house up there and still love to visit. We were just there this past weekend.
We particularly like the Silo in Queensbury for breakfast.
The Great Escape (Six Flags) is a lot of fun and the Great Escape Lodge across the street is fantastic.
Ice cream at Marthas.
We really love Saratoga Springs. SO many amazing restaurants. The race track is beautiful and great place for family fun (they have a playground and many restaurants - like Shake Shack, lol - on the premises). Downtown Saratoga is just gorgeous at night. Live music outside.
We're going back a few more times this summer (& considering purchasing a condo, we love it so much)

My husband is from lake George and I live in Toga! My thoughts...
You could hike Prospect mountain or Buck (they're kinda intense tho).
My uncle runs a really nice, small boating charter company called Lake George Island Boat Tours (you can check it out on FB) if you wanted to go out on the Lake and not drive your own boat.
Lake George restaurant offerings are abysmal except for the Log Jam. Actually Blue Water Manor and The Boathouse are on the water and are nice. Don't eat anywhere in the village. DEFINITELY visit Saratoga if you can, it's so vibrant and kid friendly and the parks and downtown and restaurants are incredible. I'm not just biased either, it's one of the best Downtowns in the US!
Any questions I'm happy to help!

@rachiecakes: this is the second post I've seen mention Saratoga (my hometown). So glad you enjoy your time here. I live basically downtown and can hear all that music all August nights!

@pachamama: we'll be back August 5th & for the Travers on the 26th
Our house was in Glens Falls. I'm sad I didn't love living there (we tried for a few months) because our house was so perfect and we really love the area.
