I find myself holding back certain information that would identify me if anyone I knew was reading my posts....which would make sense if I were a CIA operative or a troll, but I'm not, so I think I am just paranoid 
I don't know why- my online personality is pretty much the same as my IRL personality. Well, I cuss more IRL.
I guess part of it is that my family is relatively private and they would not like to know I was talking about our issues for the whole world to see.
Anyone else holding back for known or unknown reasons?

You're definitely not alone! I hold back a whole lot for different reasons...I worry my very sarcastic/crass humor won't come across in the manner/spirit I intended or I'll offend someone...also, like you, I'm afraid of sharing too much personal info and someone easily finding who I really am. Which, really is ridiculous since its not like I'm someone anyone would really give a rats ass about or worth digging around to try find personal info...I mean, really. And, if someone actually did care enough & found this site, more power to em. Oh, yea, and I also swear a lot more IRL.

@LMOG47: Oh, I tone my humor down, too, like you said (or maybe I should say clean it up). IRL, I tend to be a little sarcastic and laugh hysterically at anything inappropriate or involving bodily functions, but I try to keep my inner 12 year old boy quiet here on Hellobee

I have mixed feelings about this. I mean, I am pretty boring so what do I have to hide? Yet, I still watch what I say online. I guess it is because the internet is forever. Oh, and nothing is truly private. I studied journalism in college, so part of me hates that I do censor myself.
Oh well.
Edit- that said, I never really try to hide who I am online. If you know me in real life, then you could tell this was my profile.

@lizzywiz: hahaha...exactly! 12 year old boy sums it up perfectly...pretty much anything can be made into a sexual joke and to me the more inappropriate the better...however, I try to tone that down

Yup, I've been on here long enough that I know if someone went into super stalker mode they could figure out who I was by reading a bunch of threads and digging through the internets. Not sure why they would do that but I still don't like it
I don't say anything crazy but I don't want everyone I know knowing all the details about my birth/nursing/etc experiences but I do like seeing others experiences and learning from them and very honestly sharing my own. I share my experiences honestly IRL with some people but I know some people would be judgey/gossipy so I avoid giving too much details IRL to those people

I feel the exact same way. If you knew me well, you'd be able to figure out it was me with relative ease, but I try not to be too specific either. Partially because I'm concerned about the permanence of the internet, and partially because I want my LO to have some say over her own internet identity without her baby pictures and the like posted all over before she's old enough to have a say.

I have never tried to hide my identity (ex. user name is my actual first name) because there isn't much to hide about my life. I don't mind people knowing a little more about me. I don't lead a particularly exciting life.

Not really, there isn't anything too exciting about me. I only post what I'm comfortable with the world knowing, gold or not. I try to avoid drama in all aspects of life, and just want to be supportive to the other mamas here.

I hold back because my inlaws found me on this site and I'm sure they still stalk it. But I have a second account if I need to ask something nasty.

No...there's not really anything going on with me that I need to keep from the outside world. I haven't officially announced my pregnancy to most people, but I wouldn't be mortified if someone found out. I'm not posting my SSN or anything, so I feel ok with just posting regular conversation.

@lizzywiz: Me! I dont like to say too much about my private life or things that will be recognizable to people who know me in real life. This is why I never share photos of me and couldnt post my wedding photos on wedding bee and I really wanted to show off my DIYS because I had so much help from the bees on WB

i don't really post that sensitive of information. DH is trying to get in a line of work that does extensive background checks and we were just discussing this the other day. you can find out a lot about me, but i'm an open person IRL too.

I just don't post anything that I wouldn't want someone knowing IRL, in case they do find me and know that it's me.
