I thought it would be harder to get a policy while pregnant, but google says it's not...
I have been putting off buying life insurance for YEARS. DH has it through work, but I figure I should really get some. I was reading that you should ideally get it before the end of your second trimester, so I gotta get on it!
But when I google "life insurance" there are a bazillion options. Where to start?

I just tried. Typically they said its not a problem, but because my medical records showed a possible complication, they told me to reapply once the baby is born.

We just actually went yesterday to get another policy, we bundled with our car/house so pretty much the plan is paying for itself in the savings we get for mulit-policy holder. It was simple, a couple questions and we have to go in for a physical and it's good.

Will your hubs have open enrollment for life insurance coming up when the baby comes? That could be one option if you're willing to wait.
My company offers life insurance for spouses (though its 100% employee paid).

I added long term disability and a small supplemental life insurance policy. I think both go into affect when I will be around 30 weeks. I have to get an exam, but the nurse told me it would be no problem when we spoke the other day, that they would just note I am pregnant. We'll see!
FWIW our life insurance is through my job and DH's job. Do you have that available at either of your employers?

DH and I each got a 20 year term life policy towards the end of the second trimester of my first pregnancy. They pulled our medical records and took blood and urine samples and tested our BP. I had no pregnancy complications and a clean history. We both received the highest health rating for determining our premiums.

@psw27: I am self-employed, so that's not an option... but I'll have to have DH check with his employer!

I increased my life insurance amount through work during open enrollment while pregnant. A friend signed up for life insurance while she was pregnant. We both had no issue although she mentioned that her weight at 8 months pregnant was borderline "obese" by standard BMI tables and if she had been above a certain amount that might have caused a problem. So don't wait too long in pregnancy!

I'm increasing mine through work...just need to meet up with HR and do it. My husband has a little through his work but they don't allow him to increase it, so we'll be going through the same company that does our home owners/car insurance for his.
