I love Halloween but not so much the actual dressing up. Mostly I like that it heralds the real start of fall. Every year in October we go pick pumpkins and carve them at home. We roast pumpkin seeds (which are like, my fav once-a-year treat ever!). We also do scary movie Fridays every Friday in October where we pick two horror movies to watch and often invite friends over to watch with us and I make stove-top popcorn. So it's more the month of October/getting ready for Halloween vs. the actual day I love.

I do love Halloween, but I also don't really like the scarier type of decor. I decorate for fall, and that carries through 'til I decorate for Christmas. Other than that though, I do like the costumes and the candy and the make-believe.

I don't love it but I don't hate it. I don't like most Halloween decor but I love seeing kids dressed up and trick or treating. Then other Halloween traditions, pumpkin, patch, carving pumpkin, roasting seeds, soup for dinner on Halloween, etc.

Love it! Halloween is my birthday so it's always been extra fun. M's EDD was 10/27 and I was hoping for a Halloween baby to share the fun with (no such luck, she was born in sept).

I love Halloween. I have so many fun memories associated with this holiday that ushers in Autumn. Growing up we had a huge oak tree in the middle of our front yard. Every October we would rake the leaves into orange pumpkin trash bags. Our front yard looked like it sprouted giant punpkins. Fun!

I hate Halloween. I can't stand wearing costumes and I don't really know why. I feel uncomfortable in them. We're not dressing lo up and I know it's going to be this huge deal where my family thinks I'm a weirdo.

@Mae: Sounds like you have some cozy traditions!

AFM I love it. I have great memories of it growing up and it kinda makes me sad that more and more schools are "banning" it for whatever reasons. And it makes me sad that it's not a big thing here. They try but they don't "get it." I still love dressing up, and this year will be our 2'nd annual Halloween Party (Comics themed.)

As for the the decor, it doesn't bother me. It's supposed to be spooky! But originally, wasn't it about remembering and honoring the dead? I think hanging up a skeleton is a kind of weird way to honor the dead, but I'm sure there's a reason for it if you look back far enough!?

To me it's just all fun!

I'm not a fan of it. I love Fall and everything that goes along with it-pumpkins, apple picking, leaves changing, sweaters, but I'm not a fan of Halloween decor.

I hate all things scary, dark, and gross... so most things about Halloween I do not like.

However, I love costumes and pumpkins and candy and all that!

So I voted Other!

I love holidays in general... so I do love halloween but I hate all the scary things!

I don't mind the kids dressing up, trick or treating, pumpkins and decorations, all that stuff. What I hate is adults dressing up in scary costume, horror movies etc. I am such a wuss! I spent last Halloween in a hostel in Sydney and some of the costumes scared me so much I spent the evening hiding in my room!

I love fall. But Halloween to me is just ugh. I hate trick or treating and the fact that every other day of the year kids are taught not to go to strangers houses or eat too much candy. Except for this day, but not for any real reason.

i hate scary things, so i don't like that aspect of halloween, but i love dressing up, and dressing LO up now. and i love the movie Hocus Pocus...so i like to watch it as much as possible around this time!

I voted other: for kids, I LOVE it! My neighborhood growing up was like Halloween central: kids would come specifically to our neighborhood from all around to trick or treat and all of the houses were decorated. It's like a kid's dream! My parents literally give away like 800 pieces of candy per year (though they sometimes give the littlest ones and best costumes more than one piece )

For adults though, I think it's kind of lame. It's just an excuse for a party and my husband goes overboard in thinking about costumes, hahaha. It just seems like a waste of energy, like the year he spent all this time putting together what ended up being a really awesome Marty McFly costume, but then barely ended up wearing it because the party he went to was lame.

I lovelovelove Halloween. It's tied with Christmas as my favorite holiday! Followed closely by Thanksgiving

Why does there need to be a point? It's fun. Thats the point.

That being said, I LOVE Fall and Halloween is my favorite. What other day of the year is it acceptable to cover yourself in blood and no one thinks twice? It's freakin sweet.

Christmas was originally a pagan holiday, btw.... just sayin.

Im going to get slammed but I hate Halloween. When I was a kid a lot of the older kids in the neighborhood liked the scare the smaller kids in the neighborhood and it scared me so much over the years I lost all love for the day. I know as a parent now I need to try to change my feelings because its for them but its hard after so many years of dislike

I'm not a fan because my bday is the day before so growing up ALL my bday parties were Halloween themed. Or if I had a bday party on the weekend closest to Halloween everyone wanted to dress up and go trick or treating. It was actually really annoying. Even when I was older, in college, people wanted to dress up to go out to dinner for my birthday. But I guess I shouldn't complain that much.....BIL was born ON Halloween!
