I was admittedly a wreck when DS started daycare. This is our third week, and we are so happy! DS has mastered several milestones, has a HUGE smile on his face when he spots the other baby (its a small in-home, so there's just two babies), and his teacher gets him to take amazing naps. I love the pics I get every day. I was so worried for nothing!
Anybody else pleasantly surprised by their daycare experience?

Definitely! I was soooooo worried about daycare and I thought Xander would either hate it or hate me or forget who I am or SOMETHING! But he loves daycare and now that he's older, he always gives me a HUGE smile when I show up! So we're both happy!

Oh yeah, I love our daycare! I pretty much knew I would though. It's also an in-home daycare. DH's best friend's wife runs it, so it wasn't difficult at all to leave DD there (besides having to give her up, nothing would have made that easier!). She loooves the big girls and has so much fun playing there everyday.

Definitely! I got to daycare earlier than usual yesterday and the director was in the infant room playing with the babies!

Yes! The night my son started singing "twinkle twinkle little star" complete with body motions, I knew I had made the best decision,

I love daycare! I love working (never thought I'd say that either!) I really enjoy my time being an adult every day and it makes every moment I spend with her even more awesome. When I was home on mat leave for the first year, I would just want a break the second DH came home and whenever we're all together we really enjoy eachother as opposed to just handing off tasks. On top of it all, our sitter is incredible and loves E like woah!

Yes! I was so nervous but they have helped her so much. She learned to nap on her own. She plays better at home, doesn't always need our attention. I know all the teachers and even office workers do everything they can to make sure R and all the other kids are happy.
I know she is happily playing all day, which helps when I am missing her all day. But that smile when I pick her up, just melts my heart.

i effing love daycare. big puffy heart with unicorns love daycare. E freaking loves it. LOVES it. Loves other kids, loves people. Ugh. I love it.

Our entire family LOVES daycare! And I'm so glad how well it turned out because my MIL was very against it at the beginning. But as soon as she saw how much DD was learning and thriving, she totally changed her tune.

I LOVE it! Our LO loves it, she runs to our door when I ask if she is ready to go to school. She is all smiles when she gets there. She loves being around other kids and having so many toys. I think she's bored at home now!
It's also been great for us, as the teachers have been super helpful in offering us (as new and very inexperienced parents) guidance when we ask their advice. They are a great resource.

I also want to add I think it is helping her with her milestones. She is 6.5 months and crawling, almost pulling up to standing cause I think she wants to keep up with the other kids. She doesn't want to be left out

@merriment: That is definitely one of my fav things! My friend owns it, and her oldest daughter is 9, and her youngest is 7 months so she's been an awesome resource!
@Smurfette: I've noticed this too! C has already learned to mimic a couple of noises the 7 month old baby makes, which cracks me up. They love to squeal and shriek at each other and then bust up laughing. I love it!

@looch: Yes! I remember this one night i started singing itsy bitsy spider and she started doing the hand gestures, i almost fell off my chair.
They are really good at teaching her to follow the rules, and it's made it easier for me to teach her things. I actually switched daycares and i'm sooo happy i switched to one that had more structure.

LO loves daycare and watching the other kids. She is so much happier being with other kids than she is staying with me or DH all day. There are things that frustrate me about daycare but overall it's been positive. The ladies there seem to really like her.

I was very paranoid about taking him to daycare but I have to work so we didn't have much of a choice. We made a last minute switch from a 'name brand' center to in home and I'm so glad. Both my husband and I just got some weird feelings at the center but he's done great at the in-home. He sleeps well, is never crying when we leave to pick him up and the other kids seem happy too.

Wow!! So glad to hear this!!! If I get pregnant with #2 this year, he or she will likely go to day care at about 2 yrs old an this thread is encouraging and makin me think in worry over nothing

My LO loves going to school! And she has learned so much. She crawled and pulled up at 7 months, she waved at 8 months, clapped at 9 months, took her first steps at 10 months. She super social and she plays well independantly or with other children, and she's a great napper (night sleep is another story but I can't blame day care for that one!).
