Does anyone else's LO only want to read the same books over and over again?
My LO only wants to read the same 25 books over and over again. We have a ton of books, but she refuses to try anything new - always the same one. We've both memorized everything by now

LO actually has one favorite book that we read to him pretty much all the time. He doesn't really like any other book - we have a ton of books for him too... maybe over a 100 and he still just wants that one book.
We actually bought a back up of that book just to have one upstairs and downstairs. I might buy another one to carry in the car too. 
He likes it so much that he also likes to pretend to read it. So cute.

Yeah, she usually has about 5 or so that are her current favorites for a few weeks or a month. I know The Night You Were Born and How Do I Love You by heart.

Yep, he cycles through books...some are faves for a week, some for several weeks!

Yes. Right now she is obsessed with Quick as a Cricket. I think I read it to her three times today.

We did a "book instead of a card" at our shower. We got lots of books, but most of them were bibles or bible stories. Oi. We're not religious but all of our family and friends are (Bible belt). Of course we appreciate them and I'll keep them forever (they have lovely sentiments written inside!) but just not my choice for a bedtime story. Lol
We only have 3 non religious books so I read them to him over and over. I haven't made a point to buy anymore!

we went through a cloudy with a chance of meatballs phase and the book disappeared. Right now, he's into different books every night, which I'm loving!

Yes but it will change from week to week. If I get really tired of a book, I hide it for awhile.

I had to go to the library today to get new books about trucks because I just can't read the two we have any more. I will actually explode.
I think the worst are the books that are just object-naming. I can read "Where the Wild Things Are" hundreds of times, but just naming the trucks on the page is going to be the end of me. I've started hiding books, but I don't know how much longer that will work (at 19 months, it's out-of-sight, out-of-mind).

Yes! Same books all the time. We can successfully add in a new one here and there but it's hard to get into his favorites rotation.

@hellobeeboston: if your LO is into animals, the About series is pretty good! I actually know a lot about marsupials now haha. We also have the birds and insects ones but those have fallen out of favor...

@Jess1483: haha, just saw your comment. Agreed!! It's weird that my son can point out a 'cable repair truck' and 'mini excavator' and doesn't know his colors. Ha! I find those books great for diaper or outfit changes and I have him flip through to find specific trucks

Yup! The good news is that it changes week to week. One time she was only interested in two pages out of Ferdinand the Bull. She wanted to read those over and over. What a baby! This reminds me that we need more books.

For sure! Thankfully he has a handful of favorites do it doesn't feel too repetitive. I'll usually ask him to pick out a new book after we've read the same one a few times

My DD only has 3-4 books she'll let me read in peace but I keep buying more to save for later. I LOVE books!

Yes and it's more like the same 3 (which change) not 25! I'd be happy to repeat 25! Lol. Then again I doubt we even have much more than 25 in our place alone. She has some at both grandparents' house too.

He goes through phases. For a while it was all Pete the Cat, then all Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Right now he'll read/listen to a variety but he MUST hear Razzamadaddy before he falls asleep. I have it memorized now!
