Like the title says. If you did get one, do you remember the brand? DW wants this and I am not sure its necessary ... Thoughts?? Thanks!!

I don't think it is. I would let a non organic mattress air out a bit, though.

We considered it but ultimately I was overwhelmed and registered for the same one as my friend. It was "green certified" or something which made me feel slightly better?
I think the most important thing in the mattress for me was getting something lightweight, to make changing the sheets easier. Mine is the same firmness on both sides and I wish it had a softer toddler side.

We bought a naturepedic mattress and love it. It was relatively important to me to have an organic mattress. I bought a cheap crib and expensive mattress because that was the best combination of cost and benefit in my opinion.

@wrkbrk: very worth it! The naturepedic one we got was waterproof as well and it is very lightweight but firm. It's a dream.

We did, it's worked out well, not sure if it was worth it, but it's been good.

I got one from Costco and it was worth it because it was the same price as a non organic one!

We did (Naturepedic). I'm not sure anyone can say if they are worth it or not, but it gave me peace of mind, so I don't regret it in the least. I did manage to get it on sale so it wasn't too bad. LO sleeps well on it.

@wrkbrk: I think we are getting a Lullaby Earth. It is made by naturepedic, but doesn't have the organic cotton layers making it a somewhat lower price point. It still has no chemicals and no toxins etc. Check them out. Might me a nice compromise for you and DH.

We did, I love our nature pedic mattress. We also have an organic mattress cover.

We went with a naturepedic mattress, as well. i have no idea if it was worth it, but it gave me a little more peace of mind in the SIDS department.

We did and it was worth it to me for peace of mind because he just spent so many hours on it. And he's still content in his crib at almost 3 years old so for us, I feel we've definitely gotten our money's worth.

Sorry this link is so long, but we got this "Colgate Eco Classica III Dual firmness Eco-Friendlier Crib mattress, Organic Cotton Cover" mattress on Amazon:

We did (Naturepedic and their organic waterproof cover). It cost more than the crib itself, but I thought it was worth it because of how many hours she would spend on it. And I knew we'd use it for a LO #2.

We got the naturepedic crib mattress and cradle mattress - better safe than sorry, I figured. If you are concerned about it you might also want to check out what the baby will be sleeping on before the crib (if anything)

I got the Colgate Eco Classica III Dual firmness Eco-Friendlier Crib mattress from Amazon for my little one, and I think it was a good purchase! I know babies sleep a lot, so I wanted to feel safe about what he was laying on and not worry about fumes and anything harsh being against his skin.

I'd say definitely worth it. We bought an organic mattress and cover. I think it's worth spending more on the mattress and less on the crib.
