We have DH's old wooden high chair, but I'm struggling to find a generic insert for it! the only ones I am seeing are also shopping cart covers, and i question whether they will fit right for every day use (I think these are meant to be used occasionally in restaurant high chairs).
Anyone have a wooden high chair? can you recommend an insert?

We have a wooden high chair, but ours came with a padded insert that straps in. I think it's Summer Baby brand.

We have a Woden high chair and actually took the insert out! It's just a grodie trap for food and gets icky and neither of us wanted to clean it. She didn't need the padding at all.

Yup, we had a wood high chair and removed the padding from inside, too. It was easier to clean just the wood than some piece of fabric gross stuff sticks to all the time.

We also have DH's wooden high chair, that we threw out the insert for! We've only used it a couple times and DS hasn't needed any padding

We have a Trip Trap and DD just sits on it without an insert. Fewer things to wash.

@redsmarties: hmm...i just don't think they sell the inserts separately, they seem to come with the high chair - doesn't anyone ever need to replace one?
@prettylizy: @mediagirl: interesting! did you just buy something to strap your LO in? I'd be worried about her sliding out without anything - all we have is the chair and the tray. but maybe i don't actually need an insert?

We have my original wooden highchair, and I used it without an insert.
Same thing at IL's house - out of 3 grandkids only 1 was a sloucher and would slide out, so FIL used his belt to do some sort of makeshift strap... it was super classy

@Pirouette: ours came with straps that were independent of the insert, so we left those in.
My ILs still have DHs high chair and they just use an old belt to strap the grand kids in.

@prettylizy: @swurlygurl: that's a great idea! Ours came with straps so we didn't have to worry about that. I was asking how old in case she's old enough to use it without straps (which by the time we got the wood one, our daughter was).

We used ours with our car seat insert and no strap. We knew he could escape and so never walked far enough away for it to be an issue

Yep! I really wanted the Tripp Trapp (still do) but it was out of budget so we got the wooden one from Ikea. I'm pretty happy with it, especially for the price. We don't use an insert though - why do you want one? I think it's easier to wipe down without one!

We got a hand me down eddie bauer wooden high chair and the people who gave it to us had 2 fitted pads that seem to be made for that specific chair.

@Silva: those look really nice! a little expensive, but i guess since we got a free chair...
@jetsa: haha that scares me a little! i mean not that i plan on leaving her in it or anything, but i feel like i want her to be strapped in - she's so wiggly these days!
@Arden: I wanted one because i thought it would be more comfortable and i also figured it would come with the straps. now i'm thinking maybe just the straps and call it a day! I don't really know what i need and don't need, i've never fed a baby in a high chair before

@Pirouette: DS has to leg straighten and scoot to slide out. It isn't a quick process if it was it'd worry me more lol. we also considered adding a front bar between his legs but we never found a good way to do it. I walled you pictures, I was having trouble picturing it
