We got one and she never really liked it. I forget what I even did with it now.

Yes, Scout has been our bedtime lifesaver! I wish we had gotten him so much sooner (especially around the 10 month bedtime wars), it is the closest thing to a lovey that C has gotten into. So many nights and naps I just lay him down with Scout and he falls asleep pushing buttons with his arm around him

@stargal: I've got a million of those pics, best gift ever for us, my grandparents are brilliant! When we travel, Scout comes with us too.
Hope P loves it too!!

We got her one for Christmas and she's just recently starting to like playing with it at one. I love it though!

Am I missing out on something? What's a Scout/Violet? Are they popular?

@NaturallyCathy: They are from Leap Frog, I think they got mine for around $20 at Walmart

@lemondrop: But what do they do? I've seen the series on Netflix but don't have any personal experience with the brand.

Yes, we've had Violet since she was an infant. It was definitely a favorite. Now it's educational rather than emotional. I update with new songs online as she grows. Before she couldn't do the numbers song but now she can!

@NaturallyCathy: you can program in your kid's name, favorite food, favorite color, certain songs (playtime and lullabye),and they push the buttons to get a response. Nothing super fancy, but C and Scout have conversations all the time on their own. Give a hug, find something orange, sing Old McDonald, etc.

@808love: good idea, I need to try the numbers song! Time for another update... his favorite animal is still a newt and favorite food is sushi from a few months ago when my husband was playing around with it

@lemondrop: Might be good companion for my toddler then. I worry he's lonely. Does it ever get annoying? I know some talking toys do.

@NaturallyCathy: less annoying than most... a certain remote control comes to mind. It has two volume choices too.

Yup, we got one as a gift when J was born. He was indifferent for a long time and then was scared of it for a bit. At about 9 months he fell in love with Scout and it spends almost all its time in the crib. Like @lemondrop: he pushes the buttons before he falls asleep and plays with him when he wakes. It's adorable...except for the creepy way it says his name but he dose t seem to mind

@lemondrop: I love the creative animal and food he chose!
My LO was the exact opposite. So generic. Her fave color was purple, fave animal dog (hello, Violet) and her favorite food was strawberry.
ETA: Oh, and now I'm not sure, it might be the Leapfrog laptop (same connection webpage) that has the number song! Sorry if I made a mistake. Anyway, lots of things to update and play around with.

My LO loves Scout!! He loves to give him hugs and kisses and take him for rides in his wagon. I love how there's a pause before Scout says my LO's name. It cracks us up every time!

DD received Violet as a gift at her first birthday. Until recently (she is 3yo) she didn't pay much attention to her. Now we go through spurts where she has to have Violet with her at all times and others when she doesn't care.
