So I didn't know this is a thing until recently; I guess instead of a wick you just melt the wax with the device?
Anyone like this over candles? Why?

@snowjewelz: I actually just went to a Scentsy party! They are a similar type of company to Pampered Chef, on they strictly do wax warmers. I haven't tried one yet, but my neighbor loves them. She doesn't have to worry about an open flame with her kids around, though the warmer does get pretty hot in order to melt the wax. She said they smell up her whole house though!

We have a candle warmer that isn't particular to a brand of wax melts - you just stick a regular old glass jar candle on top of it and turn it on. It almost looks like a small hot plate. I love it because our puppy is way too curious and has burned his whiskers trying to sniff candles, and also I am really sensitive to smells, and I feel like the slow melting wax diffuses a more subtle scent than burning the wick.

@2PeasinaPod: That makes sense about the open flame, but then if the warmer is too hot it's almost easier to tell kids not to touch the flame instead of the whole thing!
@IRunForFun: Aww~ That is so sad/cute at the same time!

@snowjewelz: Right? I thought the same thing. LO knows that a flame is hot! He won't know that liquid wax is hot! She keeps it in her kitchen though, so it's easier to have it on the counter and under her cabinets than an open flame.

I had a scentsy warmer. It was convenient but the candles gave me a headache that said, no flame was a plus, BUT if kids or pets can reach the (hot) warmer or the plug to pull on, it's hot liquid wax lol. So I resold mine because I had nowhere to plug it in that was out of reach (and obviously the headache thing
). I also voided my warranty but didn't care, I bought the Yankee candle little wax melts/tea light things and just popped the metal and wick out and used that in it.

I like them because I don't have to worry about leaving a candle burning when I'm not home. We still keep them away from the kids because messed wax is not safe, but I can turn it on in the morning and then leave it all day. We have one in our bedroom that I only turn on at night. And use it like a night light. Just enough light to keep me from stubbing my toe in the night and it smells nice

Hmm now I kinda want one! I rarely light scented candles but always want some kinda scent in the house, esp for the holiday season!

@snowjewelz: Here is my scentsy! Although the wax scents are making me want to vomit with my morning sickness. Ordinarily, I love it.

I used to use tart burners too. You put a tea light under and a wax tart on top!
