Don't remember, but we will convert a crib to a toddler bed when the time is right.

We will have one (probably) because our crib converts. I did not have one as a kid. I got my parents hand me down queen bed when I moved out of the crib haha.

I had a normal twin-sized bed growing up rather than a toddler bed. The crib we're getting converts to a toddler bed, and then a full-size headboard, so we probably will go with that, unless we have baby #2 around the time that we would switch anyway, in which case baby #1 would get a new bed

our crib converts to a toddler bed. we'll probably use the toddler bed option purely for the sake of getting more use out of it and the mattress. otherwise i would probably skip to a twin/double.

Our crib is not convertible, so DS will be moving from crib to queen sized bed. we have 2 queen mattress/box springs at our house, so I can't see buying another.

I didnt have a toddler bed. I went right into a full as a child.

Im pretty sure my parents put me right into a twin, we'll be doing the same. She's so big that if she outgrows the crib, the toddler bed wouldn't do us any good.

I only remember having bunkbeds with my sister (around age 4) so I don't think so. I think we are planning on skipping a toddler bed and going to a twin or full...we haven't decided yet.

we bought the conversion kit for charlie's crib, but he went straight to a floor bed when he refused to stay in it. olive is now sleeping on a floor bed too so the conversion kit has remained unused! oh well at least we can sell it.

i never slept in a toddler bed. went from sleeping on the floor to a twin bed.

Becuase of this thread, I've know been picking out my daughter's new headboard...oh boy

When people say "floor bed" do they mean a crib mattress on the floor? Twin mattress? Or a bed frame without legs?

I went straight to a double.

We might use the toddler bed conversion on the crib just to make it last longer if we don't need it for a second baby before then. But we also have a spare single in her bedroom, so maybe just move her to that with a rail and free up some floor space.

@Myicitygirl: I think they mean any mattress on the floor...crib or twin or larger.

So DD will be 25 months in May when #2 arrives. His sleep has always been awful, it is a struggle to get him to sleep and he often wakes crying a couple of times a night and gets up before 6 most morning. He sleeps in a Halo and has not yet climbed out of the crib and I am considering keeping him in the crib and just buying a new crib for #2 because the thought of him running around and leaving his room every time he wakes up just kills me, especially as I have not had decent sleep in the past 2 years.

If he can stay in the crib for just a few months after the birth, it would be worth it. I would just buy a second convertible crib so I can use each as a toddler bed.

However, no one else seems to be doing that. Any thoughts? Is it not worth the hope he stays in the crib for a few more months?

I definitely didn't have a toddler bed growing up. seems like they weren't as prevalent then (cribs didn't convert so they would have had to buy a whole separate bed)?

LO will be almost 3 or older by the time #2 comes along, is already 2 now, and I think whenever she gives up the crib (or when we need it for #2) a real bed will be fine. she hasn't shown any sign of wanting/trying to climb out so I hope it lasts another 6 months at least. if she climbed out tomorrow I suppose we'd convert to the toddler bed because we don't have space in our current place for a real bed - but we're likely to move in the next few months.
