DS doesn't yet meet some of the criteria I'd like to see before he starts BLW, so I think we'll be later than 6 months. Did anyone else start later?

we didn't start til closer to 7 months. partly because we didn't have a high chair, and partly because he still wasn't awesome at sitting up!

We gave him a little bit of puree at 6 months and decided he wasn't ready. We waited until his adjusted age was 6 months, so we really started around 7 or 8 months and he was WAY more into it then! Nothing says you have to start at 6, I'd wait until you are comfortable and C is showing signs of readiness. No reason to rush it

Not there yet but my LO is not showing any real interest in eating yet. I figure a lot can happen in these few weeks leading up to six months, but I plan on waiting until she seems ready, even if that puts us past six months.

My girl is about the same age as your little guy, @grizz: and she shows no interest. Guess we will let her lead the way. I had tried to give her a few things and she just cries.

@grizz: I would've but DH was really excited. LO didn't care much until around 7.5m For Lo2 ill happily wait until then! It's just more work!

@BabyMats: Sitting completely unassisted, loss of tongue extrusion reflex. He also still picks things up in a funny underhanded way.

@scg00387: I hear you on the more work bit! I'm not looking forward to solids poop in CDs AT ALL!

We tried to start solids at 6 months and Xander just wasn't into it at all! It wasn't until closer to 7 months that we really got going!

He is really reaching for our food, so I think he will like it when we get started. He has gotten lightning fast, and has snatched avocado off my sushi, a quesadilla from DH, and splatted his hand down in some sour cream to try to eat it. We've caught him in time to take it away every time, but he is VERY interested!

@grizz: it gets easier after they're eating three meals a day and just rolls off! An md you might be surprised; DS was grabbing for food too and seemed really interested but once we actually gave it to him he just wanted to play with it
