LO2 has a really small room! She will be two in March and we plan on moving her to a big girl bed sometime in the next few months, or right around her birthday. However, she has no space in her room for much. I think if we get rid of her dresser we could move her book shelf where that is and then her twin size bed can fit on the larger wall. She has a smaller closet but I think with maybe a few shelves it could work for her clothes. It's just one of those closets with a single door, not a double, so it's not wide enough to put the dresser in it. However, I'm unsure how I would organize it. I would need some sort of shelves, or bins or something. I am hoping you guys could help me with some ideas that would fit her clothes that don't get hung up. We don't hang: Pajamas, pants, socks (obviously 
) so that is what we would need space for. I want it easy to grab and not have to dig through. I can attach a photo of what I have to work with, if that would help!

First thing I would suggest for a small room is taking the door off the closet. Maying use a curtain rod with a curtain if you want to close it off

@Bao: Just because of the space in the room you have to reserve for a door to open. Having it open or just covered by a flat curtain can save a ton of space. It also will make the space feel like more an extension of the room.

We will be moving LO to a big girl room next month, and plan to store all her clothes in the closet then. Our plan is to build out her closet similar to this, with a double closet rod and more of her day-to-day clothes hanging low within her reach, and bins on the bottom shelves for undies, PJs, socks, etc.

@T.H.O.U.: that's true. Nothing large can go on that wall anyway because of the heat vents
I wonder if we could switch the way it swings open, if we did that it would go towards the room door (right next to it) and cause no space issues...

That's my plan actually. Using closet organizers I think I can get away with having all clothes in the closet. Then, the changing pad will be set atop a book case.
For closet storage, I'd suggest a double hanging rods. If you want her to be able to manager her own clothes easily how about one of those 3 drawer carts that you can peak through? Does her bed frame have trundle drawers? That could provide additional storage.

my older son always just had a closet. When he was a baby I had the doors off, but when e turned two I had to put them on because he would take everything out! We have a double rod. Current season clothes on the bottom, out of season the top. All tops and jackets hang. Pants, shorts and pjs and folded on a shelf above the rod. Shoes on the floor. Socks, underwear and accessories hang (separated) in an IKEA PS FÅNGST (the hanging storage mesh organizer). (We did bins on the shelf when he was younger- but I like the hanger now that he gets himself dressed.)
ETA: I did an elfa system in his closet- so we have been able to switch it up as needed.

@Bao: Yeah- it was an epic disaster with the doors off. I actually had to put a lock on the closet for awhile. My younger son is three now thou and he never cared about anything in his closet. So I think it depends on the kid.

All of DD's clothes are in a closet hanging except for onesies and soft pants that are rolled up, socks/tights, etc. But if I had to get rid of her dresser those can easily be put in a bin or something in the closet.

All of our clothes are in closets. The closets have shelves in them and I put bins on those for socks, underwear, and other things that don't get hung up. I hang up nearly everything else, including pants/skirts.
