When J was born I was told he had a spontaneous pneumothorax and a subdural hematoma but the doctor's were taking caring of him and he would be fine. It was said rather quickly and nonchalant just after he was born.
I did think it was curious how a team of doctors rushed in and DH didn't get to cut the cord but there was so much going on that I didn't question anything.
Afterwards I found out that that meant he had a head injury and collapsed lung! And that his Apgar score of 2 meant that life-saving measures were taken!
I didn't know this until his follow up appt. with the pediatrician at one week.
It's probably best I didn't fully understand what was going on when it was going on!
or all the stitches!
it was my second tho and i delivered fast so it didn't end up being a big issue. had it taken a long time to push w/the placenta detaching i probably would've ended up with a emergency c section!
