Not sure how useful my experience is since mine was an exploratory open laparotomy (appendix was not in the usual place) in 1988...but, FWIW:

I was able to go back to almost all routine activities within 2 weeks but some stretching movements and heavier lifting still bugged me several months later.

I had a laparoscopic appendectomy my junior year of college. My surgery was late on a Friday night, I was back in my dorm the next night, and went back to class the following Tuesday. Walking to class/around campus was challenging for probably a full week.

I had the same surgery several years ago (non-ruptured, laparoscopic) and I took a week off work. I was on a reduced work-load and mostly desk-bound until about 4 weeks post-op.

I found it hard to accept how long it took to heal because being laparoscopic, it doesn't look like much from the outside (I had three tiny incisions). I had to keep reminding myself that it was really the internal healing that I was waiting for.
