@Phillybaby2013: how are you doing?
@yellowbeach: wow, sounds like an epic weekend! we had GORGEOUS weather in the boston area and enjoyed lots of time outdoors and at the beach - nice enough to run around at least!
@paranundrum: adorable kitty, sorry about af
afm, AF is 5 days late, no positive pregnancy test, and had some period-like cramping over the past few days but NADA. i know i am still post IUD and getting back to a normal cycle but i kind of want AF to hurry up and show so we can get this show on the road!

@paranundrum: cute artwork but “ugh” and “boo” for AF
I also had AF start yesterday. So, no Christmas baby for me.

@MsHangry: @paranundrum: sorry ladies!!
@maybebaby: that's so frustrating!

@maybebaby: I'm okay, thanks for asking. Bleeding finally started to let up yesterday thank god. I've been extra tired and Saturday I felt like garbage so have just been taking it easy and getting extra rest. I'm sorry you're still in limbo land. Obviously I'd prefer a BFP for you but hope things get underway soon for you!
@MsHangry: Ugh boo AF. I was disappointed about no Christmas baby too. It's my favorite holiday and I loved the idea of having a tiny baby as the best present ever. Crossing my fingers for January babies.
@paranundrum: sorry lady. Onward and upward.

@Phillybaby2013: Glad you've been able to take it easy and things are starting to wrap up
@MsHangry: sorry mama! i was actually kind of anxious about the idea of a christmas baby - my second is Dec 7 and it was such chaos that i can imagine it would be no nice to have a cozy last holiday before welcoming a baby - trying to look on the bright side, but it is still a total bummer
period started today, never thought i'd be so excited haha! hubby and i are both gonna be in texas for work next week and got our parents to join up to watch kids so we can extend trip and meet in austin. i got OPKs for this next month but worried that because of the work travel (he will be gone one week, then one weekend together, then gone another week) that we will miss it but what can you do!?

@JennyLayneAZ: Thank you!
@Phillybaby2013: Thanks. I'm glad to hear you have been able to rest a bit.
@maybebaby: Sorry about AF, but good to hear you're excited and have a nice trip coming.
Have you used OPKs before or is it your first cycle?
clementine / 811 posts
@maybebaby: Exciting times! You'll probably just have to find out what your style is. I'm pretty laid back and my cycles are fairly predictable, so I just take an OPK a day from around CD10-12 or when my CM starts to look promising and stop after I've gotten a positive. If I don't get a true positive and the OPKs start to look lighter again, I just mark the darkest as a positive.
Some of the other ladies here have perfected the science though, @Sams Mom, please correct me if I am mistaken, but I think the most hardcore testers used to test twice a day from almost the beginning of the cycle and adding a third test when the lines started to look darker to be sure to catch OV.
I guess you can just start slow and work your way up if you miss your OV with one test a day.
Are you planning to start temping at some point? (Or are you doing it already and I've missed it?)
nectarine / 2177 posts
@paranundrum: this is all really helpful, thank you! i don't temp and haven't thought about doing that yet but will see how this month goes.

@maybebaby: I'm glad I could help. I hope you get a BFP before you get to charting.

Finally got a smiley face positive on my digital ovulation test today. Day 21! I hope I have an adequate luteal phase this cycle. I used to have very regular 30-day cycles. 🤷♀️

@maybebaby: are you looking for fertile signs such as cervical mucus? Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It’s amazing. Also, the Clearblue fertility monitors are a wonderful way to get to know your cycle. I know wayyyyy to much about fertility tracking. So, I’m happy to help in any way that I can!!

@maybebaby: also, I find regular ovulation sticks very difficult to decipher.. I pay extra for the smiley face digitals.. totally worth it IMO

@CatchAFallingStar: Looks like I'm the baby of the bunch at the moment. I'm 28.

@CatchAFallingStar: I'm 34. Trying to get this last baby in before AMA.

@yellowbeach: so glad I’m not the only one ... how do they know your eggs are bad quality?

@Phillybaby2013: you still have SO MUCH time. I had my first at 36 and my second at 39!
nectarine / 2177 posts
@CatchAFallingStar: woop woop, get it mama! with first two kids i got pregnant first cycle each time so i never looked into TCOYF. but cycle definitely is different post IUD so this month i will add OPKs to the mix, will maybe read that if nothing happens next go round. just got a ton of the strips but good to know about the digitals if this doesn't feel super clear!
@Phillybaby2013: haha twins! i am 34 and 35 will be in march sooooo we shall see! how old are your two? mine are almost 6 and 3.
kiwi / 520 posts
@maybebaby: we are twins! My bday is in February. My boys just turned 6 and 4. Another reason I want to get the show on the road. The thought that they'll be 7 and 5 years apart from baby#3 sounds crazy enough. I'm grateful though too that they're grown up a bit and will hopefully make the transition a bit easier. The early days with my 2nd were rough with them being 25 months apart.

@CatchAFallingStar: I thought so too...six years ago when I started TTC... Hopefully this year is my year.

Coming out of semi-retirement to wish everyone baby dust! I will hopefully be joining you next month if I ever get a dang positive OPK.

Well, I'm one temp from confirming a CD 20!!!!!! ovulation. Only got one BD (that counted) in this month with my husband's crazy amount of extra duty he signed up for while I was jobless.
Looking at a POAS date of April 25 (10 dpo). I can't HB on my work computer at the new place, can't have my phone out much (especially clinic days), then I get home and just want to eat dinner and go to bed as soon as my husband leaves for work.

@Phillybaby2013: one of my besties had a 7 and 5 year old when her third was born and it has been incredible spacing for them! The big boys are so helpful and self-sufficent.

Hi guys, I'm going to be that random annoying person dropping in with a question (love the POAS threads but for my mental health have been working to not think about TTC too much....)
After reading great things here, I am using OSOMs for the first time this month. I POAS this morning, but LO was hysterically screaming mama mama and DH was saying "where's mama, where's mama" (lol) so I looked at it for about 15 seconds, didn't see anything, and figured "another bfn - when it's not 5 am i need to figure out how long to try before going back to the RE."
Then, I came back about 45 minutes later to a line. The directions say in huge letters that the test is invalid after 3 minutes. Here's a picture now after it's had a chance to darken for a few hours. Is this dark enough to be real, or could it be an evap? I think I remember from this thread a month or two ago that one of you had a positive OSOM and negative beta?
Thank you!

Ugh, I think this site won't accept HEIC images, let me try again...
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@periwinklebee: that is 100% positive! Of course, pee on another, but everyone says OSOM is slow to show sometimes.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Sams Mom: Thank you! It looks so dark now that it dried, but I just took another one (granted with a pretty short hold - I had to pee!) and I'm just now starting to be able to see maybe a faint shadow after 7 min... nothing at 3...Will feel better if others have had a similar experience. It will take me awhile to believe it anyways (I got them specifically b/c I had some unusually long LP with nothing on a cheapie and I wondered if it could be chemicals with really low hcg causing it...) But if it's real and not likely to be an evap, I'll at least tell DH!

@Sams Mom: Great to see you're alive! And yay for nearly confirmed ov!

@periwinklebee: I hope it's the real deal! I don't have any experience with OSOMs, so I'm no help, but wanted to say good luck and fingers crossed!
You can give us an update when you've taken more tests in a day or two, we'd love to have you as a drop-in BFP on the board, it hasn't been a great month so far.
