@Brawly: Ugh, I have no idea about beets and OPKs! Are you temping at all? Temping can help you confirm whether you ovulated. Otherwise... I have no idea.

@Adira: No, I haven't been temping. That is how I conceived with LO and it stressed me out big time, the OPK's are so much easier for me... but your right, I dont have O confirmation.

@snowjewelz: yes I will test until fade out! That way I can feel more confident about O.

@Adira: that's just based on previous short LPs! It doesn't matter though because you are KU and we are gonna be December mommas together!!!

  6. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@Adira: FF is only going off the information they have from previous cycles. It probably is just looking at your LP the last few times and seeing that it was short. I would ignore when it thinks you will start and just focus on dpo.

@MrsMccarthy: Yes!!!! December Mamas, here we come!!!

@Radish: So true! If I'm not pregnant (which I totally am), I just hope I have a longer LP this time around!

@snowjewelz: How do you all know when to test? I'm totally new to OPK's and charting and whatnot, but I got a Wondfo set off of Amazon at a friends recommendation. Sorry, I'm a newb

@eabae: I'm sorry honey! I hope you get an end of April early January baby!!!

@ValentineMommy: With OPKS, if your cycles are regular, then you know exactly when you O and you can start testing 1-2 days before. For me, my cycles post BC were not regular, so I had to start testing starting around CD10. You can also look for signs, the most popular being CM. But my CM wasn't very obvious so I really just use the OPKs and temping! And usually we can POAS 2 weeks from the day you O, or the day AF is due!

Ask away! I was a newbie just a few months ago too but thanks to the wonderful community of HB, I learned so much in such a short amount of time!

Btw, how did you conceive LO #1?

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ValentineMommy: Most people set their POAS date to 9-12 days after ovulation (or even a few days after they expect to see AF). So if you have an idea when you're going to ovulate, you might pick your POAS right out of the gate. Otherwise, you'll wait until you're sure you've ovulated and then decide.

If you're using OPKs, once you see the surge, I believe you ovulate within 12-36 hours. So you'd probably sent your POAS date for ~10-14 days after you see the surge. Though some people start testing sooner and others later!

ETA: Just realized you were asking about when to start testing with OPKs, lol! Ignore me!

So, I have already mentioned that I am not temping or doing OPKs for the first two months of TTC, but we are BD-ing everyday and I don't think I will even O until next week. We will probably calm it down once I am really close to AF. I mean, is there much more I can even do (besides getting burned out on BD-ing?) I just got off of BCP which made my libido zilch and I feel kinda frisky again (sorry!) so it's actually kinda nice for now...

  13. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@ValentineMommy: If you have a normal cycle (27-30 days) I would start on cycle day 10 and do one a day until you get a positive (test line needs to be the same as or darker than the control). Then I would wait to test with a HPT until 12-14 days after that positive OPK.

@bushelandapeck: I just ultrasounds! I cant wait to be PG and have one, it is so exciting! We are nuts though and don't find out sex... so by 40 weeks, I am absolutely bursting to find out! Ha!! Congrats darlin!

    persimmon / 1481 posts

@simplyfelicity: Wow you're much better than me. We usually go every 2 days after AF and the every other day about a week before I O. After a positive OPK, every day for about 3 days. But more power to you! BD away girl! My OB told me to do exactly what you're doing, just worry about having sex and taking a prenatal vitamin.

I feel like I shouldn't get to post, unless I have been keeping up with the conversation. LOL. But I will post anyways. I broke down and took a HPT yesterday. Totally negative.

I told DH and showed him the test. It was the first time I really felt sad after testing (Or AF arriving). What made it all the more sad was that DH kept looking at it over and over again- hoping that he missed something. It broke my heart a little bit, especially since anyone here who has ever taken an HPT probably knows the feeling and has done the same thing...

    Still waiting on AF.

I'm glad that DH is being a true partner with me on this journey.

  21. HellOnHeels

I've tried very hard not to symptom spot, but this cycle I can't help it. I'm on 8DPO, had some very light brown discharge mixed with my CM, had some twinge/pains on my left side last night and today my sense of smell is insane. I'm burning a scented candle, which is fairly low and I usually don't catch much of a scent when it's so low, but the smell is SO strong that it's almost making me feel sick and headachy... Get me out of this TWW!!

@HellOnHeels: THe smell thing may be a great sign I was about 8-9DPmyfirstIUI and had pulled pork in the crock pot and woke up dry heaving from the smell.....I did get a BFP...that cycle, it was short lived, but for you I say BFP and a sticky baby :))))

Just a tiny bit more spotting. AF was due today. I think I'm out, so much so that I bought my first ever OPK kit tonight... But there is still a little part of me that thinks "well, AF has never been late, maybe it's that slight spotting that some women get early on..." I guess I'm PUPO too , @Adira:

@HolisticMama: aww honey i am so sorry. so glad hubby is on board and supportive though. I hope cycle 5 is the magic number for you!

@HellOnHeels: when are you testing? If you had implantation spotting 2 days ago you should get a positive HPT. I would test today or tomorrow. Fx!!!

    @keepcalmcarrie: Yes you are!

Oh my gosh, girls, the TWW sucks! I'm experiencing some mild cramping this morning and at first I was really excited, but then I remembered I had cramping last cycle right before AF arrived. BLEH! 10 DPO today, so AF might arrive tomorrow if my LP hasn't gotten any longer...

@HolisticMama: Awww noo! It's always so good to see you on the board... You must jump in whenever! You're not out yet though! I'm keeping you on the list!

@simplyfelicity: Enjoy BD ED TTC actually helped DH & I BD more!

@HellOnHeels: SS away! I am very pro SS haha. Because you either are KU, or you're not. It's not going to change whether you SS or not! Should I move up your POAS date?

@keepcalmcarrie: Not out till AF! Fx fx!!

@Adira: I'm holding my breath for you!!!

@Adira: I'm with you on the cramping. I've had it off an on for the last two weeks and I'll be convinced one day it's implantation, and then I realize, DUH! I have PCOS. It could very well be a cyst popping.

  31. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

    @Adira: fingers crossed!!!!

I got a negative OPK this morning so it does seem like I ovulated on day 15 like I used to! I'm going to try to hit O+1 with hubs tonight and then we start praying! I really hope this is it for us.

  32. snowjewelz

@MrsMccarthy: Awesome! You did so well this cycle with weaning and everything! I am praying for you as well to get this BFP

@MrsMccarthy: Sounds like your timing was well! Good luck tonight and welcome to the TWW!

Thanks for all your kind words, ladies! I know I'm not out yet, but I'm not feeling very confident today. Seeing more watery CM, which last time happened right before AF. I know it's no guarantee of anything, but it just feels like all the signs might be against me.

  34. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Adira: Uggh, that sucks TWW sure is a roller coaster ride... I feel like the weather dictates how I feel too... It's rainy here today so I feel quite blah!

@MrsMccarthy: Woo! 1DPO! We're going to hit O+1 today too. My cycles are long so I O'd on CD19. I have really high hopes this cycle. Hoping we both see those BFPs in a couple of weeks!

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@snowjewelz: haha, yeah, seriously. It's cloudy here, so that probably isn't helping me. And this morning, I was all "I'M PREGNANT!!!!" And then literally like 30 minutes later I was all "Ugh, AF is totally showing up soon... FML" The TWW is such an annoying roller coaster.

    @FaithFertility: @MrsMccarthy: @Kbee: @KelLeeLeee: Thanks ladies!!

@littlek: I think I'll test today and if I don't get anything I'll hold off til AT LEAST after the weekend again.

@snowjewelz: Very true, but then it gets me all excited and riled up lol. FF says the 9th is my "test date" so we'll go with that.
