I'm transitioning into teaching (from legal management) and just interviews for a teacher/coaching position. They said the time commitment is really high (I'd be the assistant coach for two sports plus chemistry and AP chemistry)
My current schedule is 8-5 M-F with an hour commute on either end, year round. So, I'm familiar with being away from LO for huge stretches of time every single day and I have a supportive spouse with generous time off/work from home opportunities. So, I think I would be okay with handling it even if that means late nights and weekend tournaments and whatnot. I'm prepared to work more than I am now if necessary. I just really want to get into the field more than anything.
If you are a teacher/coach what kind of work/life balance do you have? Do you enjoy your work?
He does go up to school on Sunday mornings to lesson plan but that's mostly because he keeps getting stuck with crappy co-teachers who don't help much in that department so he ends up doing the planning on his own.
