I find they don't pill in the wash, they look new after numerous washings, they fit better, and are made of a more luxurious fabric. I find that cheaper clothes tend to sag and lose their shape very quickly. I like them for a couple months, then they just don't look nice anymore. Especially jeans! I hang dry all of my clothes, too.

I think it depends on the company, but generally, yes. I find a big difference between Banana Republic and their factory stores. I'm a huge fan of their factory stores, but if there's a big sale at their regular store, I prefer to purchase from there. The warmth and quality of the cardigans are a great example in quality difference.
