I've been wanting to go to those meetings, but my LO is 7.5 months old and doing great breast feeding. Would it be silly for me to go? I've never gone before, but would love to hang out with other moms!

i went pre-baby but it definitely seemed like a mama support group in general. lots of the moms knew each other and were there to hang out as well as get BFing help/support. not just learning to BF, but the logistics, changes in BFing as kiddos got older, etc.

My local chapter had two meetings a month. One was for breastfeeding support and one was a "parent enrichment" meeting. I went to both even as my kiddo got older. Give it a try! The stakes are low, and if it isn't a fit, at least you know!

I've never been to a LLL one specifically but my pediatricians office has one and the babies seem to range from newborn to close to a year. And definitely not everyone is there for advice so much as support and company. I wish I could go more but it's tough with a toddler in tow and it pushes up against her nap. I think you should check it out!

I go to the LLL meetings locally and love them. I went when DS was small even tho we weren't having troubles breastfeeding and still go now. It's a mom support group, and often the conversation strays from Breastfeeding to weaning, solids, sleep, and anything else you can think of! Also, if you LO is 7.5 months, I'm sure you will have valuable experience to share with new moms. I love that now that DS is older, I can go to the meetings to help other moms and share our experiences. It's nice to give back and contribute. Before I used to go to get advice!

I'm a LLL leader and our group has a bunch of "seasoned" mamas who come out every month as their baby gets older - they are a great resource for new and expecting moms. There is always something for everyone; we talk about more than just newborn nursing, our group covers everything from pregnancy to weaning and solids and beyond. You should go!

@Ginger333: that's cool that you're an LLL leader, my location doesn't have LLL which sucks because I'd love to get more involved in bf'ing support!
@MrsBrewer: I've been to 2-3 meetings with my first and I was actually the only EBF mum there! It was really cool to talk with the other mums about their bf'ing journey and I learnt a lot from the meetings.
