Are mopeds douchey?

i *think* so. vespas are cute though, i'm not sure how that's different from mopeds? i think i am biased though bc an ex had a moped...and was a douche.

How are mopeds different from vespas? Anyway, here in Seattle, we see them all the time. We are car people so they are not for us. I don't have any problems with them, though. Whatever it takes to save on gas. I do think some motorcyclists are worse than mopeds/vespas.

A Vespa is usually referred to as a scooter, since it has a platform you can stand on. A moped is usually more like a motorcycle with a weak engine. They often don't require a helmet bc their engines arent that strong, altho maybe that rule has changed.

I was wondering that after I saw the episode, too. I never knew that. They seem wimpy but I have never thought of them as "douchey".

In Europe we call them "Butt Cruisers"... the opposite of a crotch rocket. It's um.... not a compliment.
They are great for girls to ride though! So cute.
So I guess that confirms the negative connotation...

I think they're fun, but I also live close to UF (a university town) and there's a good sized community college nearby where everyone rides them.
I personally don't really know anyone over the age of like 25 that owns, one, though. Central FL = lots of elderly drivers = not smart to drive anything less than a tank most of the time.

They are very popular where we are living overseas...I don't think mopeds are douchey but most of the time the drivers are! We see a lot of moped accidents here!

we call them DUI mobiles- the only people I've ever heard of around here (NC) have them bc their lisence was taken away for drunk driving. So yea, total douchebags.

I always look at people riding mopeds and think they're being very economical and green. I've never seen them as douchey.

Not my personal preference but I don't think "douchy."
I've run into far more problems with motorcyclists and bicyclists, but maybe only because there are more of them than mopeds...

I think people who ride mopeds in areas where the speed limit is above 45 are douchey. I think moped riders in a city environment are not douchey.
ETA: And obviously I need to watch this week's Up All Night!
