My kids nap at school but on weekends and summer they just will NOT nap. I feel like I've tried everything and the best bet for them is to ride out the day and go to bed early. My 3 year old gets SO cranky though and no nap kills me!

My daughter hasn't really napped for me since she was 2. She does *most* days at daycare, but not at home.

My almost 3 yo needs her nap but skips it a couple times a week lately. She gets super cranky by bedtime even when I do bed a little early. Most of the time she respects the rule that she doesn't have to sleep but she has to rest in her bed quietly until her clock lights up- at least she will for an hour or so, then she starts calling me or saying she has to go potty (she wears a pull up for naps). It sucks when she skips a nap!

My oldest is a napper, 3 1/2 and still naps 2-3 hours every day and looks forward to naptime.
My 2 y/o will not nap on weekends (but does at daycare weekdays) and has pretty much always been brutal for naps (few pockets of good) since he was born.
It's crazy to "watch" as they have the same routine, but are just so different with regard to sleep!

My son only naps while I am driving. He rarely takes a nap at home. He takes naps on the days that he goes to daycare.
ETA: This started when he was about 2.

DD is 17 months and 1-1.5 hrs is a LONG nap in our world, but she is happy as can be all day! So I let it go!

My daughter dropped her nap right before turning 3. Occasionally she'll fall asleep on the couch or ask to lay down in bed but it's incredibly rare.

My 3 yo won't nap for me at home. He naps at daycare and usually naps when DH puts him down, but that is starting to become hit or miss. However what I do now when I'm alone with him and the baby is take him out for a stroller nap and it works. He is in a better mood after and I get a break - just sucks that I can't stay home for his nap but I'm only alone with both kids during nap time twice a week.

Yes! Some kids are better at sleeping/need more sleep than others!
My now 4 y.o. stopped napping consistently at home by age 2. We still do "quiet time" in her room which has been a sanity saver for both of us!
My ten month old loves to sleep, goes down easy, wakes up happy, and likes naps. They could not be more different in the sleep department!

Sadly, I think it's true. My newly-turned 2 yr old has never been a stellar napper. I kept looking forward to those 2-3 hour naps once he got down to one nap, but it never happened. His nap length has gotten shorter and shorter since he dropped to one. Now it's about an hour.
