We have 9 in our area. I really do feel like they're everywhere so it's hard to buy a house with none there. I remember being outside with my friend playing and a car came up and the man did exactly what they tell you they'll do in school. He talked in a very soft voice, to try to get us closer. My friend said that she was going to get her grandma because she couldn't understand him, so he just drove away. It's scary out there!

There are 3 in my city, and 3 in the town I grew up in (one city over...where the 'rents live).
However..another bordering city has 16!! (I'm in RI). This city is 1 SQUARE MILE...winning. yech.
ETA - I googled for my state's listing. It only had names, though - no faces.

We don't have a public registry in Canada, and I am happy we don't. I think it causes more paranoia than anything, and I am more worried about the predators that haven't been caught than those who have been!

This is the site I used in the past. http://www.familywatchdog.us
I was afraid to look because I live in an apartment complex where apartments are somewhat affordable but actually it's not that bad. Phew!
I do look at the history of each offender to see if it is a repeat or a one time problem.
