I'm terrible. I'm even worse now that LO is here... I don't know when to clean! I've been googling cleaning schedules and tips, so hopefully I can get it under control soon. At least I'm a good cook

I try to be. I think through biggest thing is keeping things picked up hels!
eggplant / 11408 posts
We try! Given the state of our kitchen right now, though, you'd never know that...
coconut / 8475 posts
I really am, like honestly this is one thing I can do right. I'm an alright cook I do the basics, well. I don't do anything special.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
I try to be, it's really hard when your married to a very untidy person!
nectarine / 2220 posts
Nope, terrible.
DH does all the "housekeeping", I do all the errands, cooking and laundry.
olive / 67 posts
I try to be but with kids running around I don't always keep the house as crab as I would like it.
grapefruit / 4079 posts
When single I was beyond a neat freak. Getting married slowed me down. The last year I've been in graduate school and I just don't have the energy. We keep the house picked up but I am horrible at vacuuming during the school year and our dogs fur is bad this time if year. I hope LO helps me stay on it.
coconut / 8861 posts
Not as good as I would like to be. It's a huge point of contention with me and DH. He has a higher tolerance of mess than I do. I tend to think that he uses having a baby as an excuse for a messy house. He took me to task about it during a recent fight. So, now I'm trying to be really, really good about it despite working and having an 8 month old. I do laundry and other chores on my work from home day to keep up.
pineapple / 12526 posts
Nope, I'm a terrible housewife. We both have slob tendencies, so it gets out of control pretty quickly. We're getting better though.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
I'm pretty good. Things are usually pretty clean and picked up around here. Obviously there are things laying around from time to time but no more than a day.

I'm pretty good. I like the way my house looks when it's clean.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
No! It is worse now that R is here. I don't have the time to get everything done since she when she does take a long nap, it is on me.
papaya / 10570 posts
I'm pretty good, really. I keep on top of the major jobs like hoovering and cleaning the bathroom. I used to be much better (a bit of a neat freak) but living with another person makes that difficult - you either relax a bit or go crazy following them around picking up after them. I am awful at keeping on top of the laundry, though! It's out of sight out of mind for me - as long as the house looks nice I don't care, really - so if the laundry is in the basket or (gasp) wet in the machine it can stay there!! DH gets really mad with me because every time he goes to use the washing machine (because he has no clean underwear left!) it's full of damp, stinky clothes!! Oops!!

I keep the house picked up and get laundry done, but the chemical smells give me migraines so I can't really clean. We have a cleaning lady for that.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
Yes, because I am super organized. I don't have a schedule, but I am constantly cleaning up, it's easier for me to maintain a clean house when I am always cleaning.
pomegranate / 3314 posts
For the most part, yes, though I am a SAHM, so that makes it a lot easier. My husband is more of a slob, though, so sometimes it feels like endless work dealing with his messes.
persimmon / 1081 posts
Even though I'm a sahm I am a terrible housekeeper. I'm a good cook, that's about it. I think I need to cook simpler and clean more.
coconut / 8498 posts
@meredithNYC: Also a SAHM... Still terrible
@mrsmate: I could definitely cook simpler meals to clean more. Luckily, the weather is getting warm and I tend to plan simpler meals during warm weather so we can be outside more. Plus, being outside = less mess making inside.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
I can tidy up fine, but as far as deep cleaning - nope! Hubby's awesome at even if he only does like twice a year. He's more detail oriented than I am.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
Nope, that's why we have a maid. I don't have time to cook either.. I'm not very domestic.
coconut / 8483 posts
Nope so horrible. I don't know how to clean things! I'm going to tackle laundry and vacuuming today though.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
No I'm awful at it. I cook well but don't clean very well, I just don't seem to have very good technique... DH keeps joking he should send me to a class. I do want to be good at it though.
papaya / 10473 posts
I'm pretty good about it, especially if I make a concerted effort to just put in 15 minutes a day. DH is a really good help though too, so I can't take all the credit.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
I'm really good at picking up daily, but we are both bad at deep cleaning.
We just replaced the flooring in our house, so I took the opportunity to wash the walls, baseboards, vents, etc. I hope I keep it up!
bananas / 9227 posts
No, I suck pretty bad. But surprisingly, I've gotten a LOT better since DD started crawling. I have no choice!
watermelon / 14467 posts
I wish. I can keep it up usually, but pregnancy has wiped me out. I swept/mopped for the first time since my BFP last week, and I couldn't believe how filthy it was. I'm working on getting better at it, especially with a LO on the way.
coconut / 8854 posts
@artbee: No need to clean with chemicals! Seriously! Look into eCloths or Norwex. No chemicals are needed just the clothes and water! That's what I use. Then you don't have the chemical smell in your house, yuck!
coconut / 8472 posts
Nope, I'm terrible. My goal is to keep making enough money to pay for my cleaning service. Time is money to me, and I have no desire to spend my free time scrubbing toilets and vacuuming. Especially now that I'm pregnant! It's all I can do some nights to cook dinner. And then I fall asleep on the couch after out of exhaustion.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@MrsBrewer: DH is picky about that stuff, he doesn't think things get clean without chemicals. I'm ok with this arrangement anyway- no cleaning for me!
coconut / 8305 posts
No! I am a terrible housekeeper & like @zippylef we're all pretty terrible about the picking up immediately after ourselves so it can get pretty messy pretty quick, especially since G & I are here alll day! Even with the best of intentions I'm horrible! =/
pomegranate / 3917 posts
I am! This is one thing I don't have a lot of patience/tolerance for is a dirty house! Ours definitely isn't spotless (we have a Golden Retriever, spotless isn't possible!) but I am all for washing walls, deep cleaning in rooms as much as possible! I cook all meals, with a few exceptions and try two new meals per week. I am on mat leave now, but I don't find things really changed much from pre-LO, except DH and I shared cooking more as he gets home before me.
We don't ever do the whole house at once though. The one thing I am awful with is folding laundry. I get it clean no prob, but never fold it when it's warm and fresh out of the dryer! When DH takes LO up for bathtime I start dinner and cleaning (parts of) main floor. Always a basic tidy up, vacuum, and wash floors, then good clean somewhere/something else while dinner is going.
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@MamaMoose: Ditto! Although I am good about keeping things picked up and wiped down in between visits.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
I am awful when DH is away now that I have LO! We're just trying to keep everything from busting at the seams!
The good thing about having a nanny is that it forces me to keep the house cleaner because I don't want her to think that we live in filth or call Child Protective Services for the conditions H is living in, lol!
