I like how stainless steel looks but hate cleaning it! I might go with all white appliances now. They make them more modern looking nowadays, which i love.

No, but I am anti-white appliances. We have Stainless Steel appliances, but I was very happy with black appliances in the homes we looked at.

Yes I love the look of them. In our new house the dishwasher is almost new but I want to replace it cause it is black and everything else is SS.

I love the look of SS, but it would have been too expensive to replace the existing white electric stove top, double ovens, and dishwasher, so we just left them. Our fridge and microwave are SS though, and our W/D set look like stainless steel.

Yes, love them. However in out apt the fridge and dishwasher are paneled so they have the same outer look as our cabinetry. I originally didn't like it but now I do.

@MRS. LEMON-LIME: we're opposite! i'm anti black appliances, but i'm fine with white or stainless. i like our stainless, but i don't love cleaning them. i also don't like when stainless has big black plastic handles & accents on them, it ruins the clean look for me.

We don't own yet so I can't be a snob, but I read an article the other day that slate is coming in, stainless steel is going out...I am intrigued to see if that is an accurate forecast for the next few years!

The secret to cleaning SS appliances (or maybe everyone knows this) is a microfiber cloth and some water. The guy at the appliance place told me this when I was buying the special SS cleaner. That is how he cleans all of the appliances in the showroom.
Voila! no streaks!

We have all stainless, but its really all about the overall look and feel of the kitchen. I also like the appliances that look like they are part of the cabinetry. If I kept a neater fridge, i would love one with a glass door

Yup. We're picking out appliances for our new house now. On a side note, our builder does not include the refrigerator in our appliance allowance. I feel gypped.

@mrs. wagon: some SS is magnetic. It depends on the quality of SS. It also helps with cleaning based on the finish and quality of SS.

Yes, even though we technically don't have the budget for it. Right now our kitchen is all ss but our stove. it drives me crazy but it's a newer, perfectly good stove so it's not going anywhere. I also went satin nickel fixtures and hardware.
@mrs. bird: I'm with you on the handles. We've bought two ss fridges in our day and not many have ss handles in our budget. I searched high and low to make it happen. It killed me to buy a dishwasher with the black control panel.

We have all stainless, except one oven which is white and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

ge came out with an alternative to stainless and I think it is called slate. I LOVE IT. We just purchased a home and will not be remodeling the kitchen for awhile, but slate appliances are definitely on my wish list!

We have black and I like it fine, honestly, I didn't care much as long as everything matched. I think as our appliances break we will replace them with SS or that slate that @noodlefish: just linked. Didn't know it existed until now, but me likey!
