I was a vegetarian for 3 months in jr high because I was so horrified by vivisection. But meat was too delicious alas and I went back to my carnivore ways.
Are you a vegetarian? Do you miss meat at all?

I'm not a vegetarian but based on my food choices, I probably COULD be. I looooove all things veggie. I could give up all meat except the occasional steak. I love medium rare red meat. Slurp!

I couldn't survive being vegetarian let alone vegan! And I would be way fatter because if I don't eat meat I look to carbs to fill me up so I end up eating way more crap foods.

I've been a vegetarian for fifteen years.
I rarely miss meat unless I smell a steak or fried chicken.
I was a vegan for the first eight years, but then I moved overseas and it was too difficult to find enough vegan options so I went back to milk, eggs, and yogurt.
Now that I'm back in the states I was going to become vegan again, but now that I'm pregnant I'm going to stick with the dairy for now.

I couldn't do vegan - love eggs and dairy, but we eat so little meat I might as well be a vegetarian - for some reason meat has become even less appealing during pregnancy.

I'm a vegetarian and have been for 2 years. I'm not strict though because on occasion I do eat some seafood but never anything land based and it is usually just some Tilapia. Now that I'm pregnant I crave Chick Fila but I haven't eaten it and I won't. I don't have a gallbladder and eating meat really messes up my system. I also have chosen this lifestyle for personal reasons and how messed up America's food system is.

I'm only kinda a vegetarian. We hardly ever cook meat at our house but I could never bring myself to go to someone else's house and dictate the meal since I'm not all that adamant about it. I will crave meat once in awhile so I'll just get it the next time we go out to eat. I guess I'm more of a special occasion meat eater.

@regberadaisy: ME TOO. love food.
i eat some kind of meat at just about every meal. i think the exception would be quick breakfasts, when i eat a pop tart or cereal. lunch and dinner are always meat-centered. nomnomnom.

I used to be a vegetarian, and I when I was a vegetarian I hated when people said they 'used to be' one too....like it was some sort of thing I would grow out of but I was so sure I wouldn't. (I was even a vegan for a couple of years, but a bad vegan...I didn't eat properly).
I went back to meat after considering using protein powder and other supplements. (I was a dancer and wanted to be stronger). And then when I went back to meat, I actually dropped 20 pounds, so I think my body either didn't like being veggie or I was just a bad vegetarian.

No, I am not. I could not be a vegan, but could probably be a vegetarian if I wanted to be

i love meat too much to ever give it up, but it is good for me. if i don't eat enough meat, my hair falls out. really weird, but true in my case.

No, but we rarely cook meat and I can definitely go days without eating it. If I do, it's usually just one meal a day. I don't like labels though so I wouldn't say I was "flexitarian" or anything (hate that word!) But the world can support more people on a plant based diet. It also encourages me to eat more veggies (I don't think that being a vegetarian is inherently healthy - it's what you eat instead). But mainly meat is just expensive, you have to take more care with food safety, and it's easier for me to overcook. But I've probably ate more since getting pregnant.

No, although I tend to eat less meat just by preference. I am completely fine with eating anything humanely killed- in fact I feel that eating meat supports veterinarians, which is the field that both my husband and myself are in.
I could never be a vegan though, I love my dairy too much!

@Mrs. Bee: Why did I just google vivisection? OMG!
I once watched a documentary online called Vegucated and then I was Vegan for a week because it made me so sick. I had the worst aversion to meat.

Nope. I could never give up meat. I also think I would be one of those fat vegetarians because if I didn't eat meat I would probably have pasta for dinner every single day.

Nope! I couldn't give it up. Plus DH NEVER could so I would have to cook it still. He always has to have some kind of meat in the meal.

While I love veggies like @Rubies:, I don't know if I could go completely meatless. I have a weak spot for good ole medium rare steaks and all things dairy!

Not currently but I was a vegan for a little over a year and I really liked it. I eventually realized that the cutting out of dairy was the part that was really medically benefitting me and added meat back in.
