I just got a new car and I am being so careful about where I park. I am parking further away and looking for spots next to nicer cars to reduce my chances of getting dinged. I remember my mom always did this!

Haha. I don't. Even when I had my slk55 I looked for the closest spots. :T

@chopsuey119: yeah you always get over it after the first! Well, I guess my mom did not. We were ALWAYS looking for good parking spots!

I don't. I gave up. I used to avoid mom cars (but not vans) because their damn kids would slam their doors into my car & the parents would not say anything about it. It made me so mad! At least look like you're scolding your kid for that! But now it has so many dings that I just don't care.
Edit to add: or they would slam their kid in the baby bucket up against it, poor kid, poor car! I've carried a lot of baby buckets & never once did that. So rude.

Yeah, I am. My car is used but I like to keep it as nice as possible.
I stay away from cars that have a lot of dents. I make sure that I am parked in the middle of a parking space so it reduces the risk of someone opening their car door and hitting my car. I try not to park next to people who are parked crooked or close to one line. I know I can't prevent accidents but I can at least try to prevent them from happening to me.

My mom used to park in literally the farthest spot at her work thinking it would safest for her new car. Then one day my dad asked her what she hit because the entire side of her car was scratched, front to back with bright green paint on it. Turns out the person mowing at her work side swiped her and didn't say anything. My dad insisted on seeing the mower and sure enough, it had red paint all down the side. They ended up paying for it getting fixed but from that point on she just looked for close spots.

Yep. I have to park near absolutely no one because we just got a new giant truck and I'm horrible at driving and parking it!
