My husband is partially color blind. He gets shades of reds and greens mixed up. I was afraid that my kids would get his color blind gene. So far my son is in the clear (we tested him at the optometrist). Not sure about my daughter yet though.

Nope! Neither myself nor my husband are colour blind.
My dad is really badly colour blind and none of his kids got it!

@pui: Phew! Good thing none of his kids got it! I heard (not sure) that it runs on the male side? I don't know. But I hope my daughter doesn't get it!

I heard that girls cannot be born color blind, and that only boys can? Hmmm Don't quote me on that, I could be totally wrong! But I thought I remembered hearing that somewhere! Something to the effect of only boys can be color blind genetically.

@MrsBrewer: I don't know that women "can't" be born colour blind but it is MUCH more rare (at least that's what I heard!). I could be wrong too.
I've only ever known men to be colour blind and I've known quite a few of them. Never have I met a women who was colour blind.

@MrsBrewer: Its very rare for women to be color blind, but my aunt is! Also most of the males in my family are, so both grandparents must've had the gene.
