I would love to cook a turkey this year... but we have no childcare on Thursday or Friday. So we will have our hands full! Alas, that means no gobble gobble.
Are you cooking a turkey for Thanksgiving? Or partaking in someone elses' turkey?

Yep, somehow my family dinner that I'm hosting went from 7 people to 20. Wow. And I decided that I have to redecorate my dining room before then too! Luckily my sister and mom will be helping!

I am not cooking the turkey, we are going to DH's grandparents house and his grandma will probably have everything done by the time we get there... except the pumpkin pie, I am in charge of the pie

I am also hosting 19 people!!!! I'm really excited though since I love to cook. Plus if I cook then I don't have to clean pre or post guests, which I view as a total win.
This year I'm trying something different and I'm going to use apples, cinnamon sticks, onions, sage, and rosemary as my aromatics, so the house should smell amazing!

We are going to my MIL's house for Thanksgiving. She will cook a turkey, but with this pregnancy, I am not really not into meat at all, so no turkey for me this year

My husband and I were supposed to host for the first time and cook our first turkey. But he now has to work so our plans got cancelled. We gave his aunt our turkey and plan to go over there.

For Thanksgiving we went to my Aunts house, I doubt I'll have to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving for a really long time. Unless we move out west for his work, and its necessary.

I am looking forward to a smoked turkey and a spiral-cut honey ham. ...now my mouth is watering. Thursday can't come soon enough!

I'm having a turkey with the in-laws on Thursday and my family on Friday. So sorry no gobble gobble for the bee family. Is there a way for you to maybe order one? I know some restaurants do that so you can still enjoy one without the work. Or if all else fails maybe a rotisserie chicken? Over here places like Luckys, Safeway, and Costco all offer them.

When I was in college we had some major exams coming up so my bf (at the time) and I ended up staying at school to study over Thanksgiving. We got take-out from Boston Market and it was a very satisfactory substitute.

Yep! Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, veggies and rolls. We are very traditional and I love it! I'm just hoping I can get through prepping the turkey and stuffing without gagging! If not, dh may need a quick lesson in turkey do prep.

Nope. On Thanksgiving, we'll be going to DH's family farm. We all bring a dish or dessert and MIL does the turkey. I'm doing corn and pumpkin pie. For my family the weekend after, we do the same thing but my SIL does the turkey. I'm in charge of pies again. I am the pie queen!

No, it's too much work just for the DH and I. LO probably won't eat turkey so we are just going out to a restaurant. I am hoping we like the place so we can make that our yearly tradition since we never have any family around for Thanksgiving.

@tejbee: Boston Market does a great job! When I was in college, my parents came to visit and I ordered the turkey, potatoes, stuffing and pies from a grocery store who cooked it all and I picked it up before my parents got there. All they had to do was carve the turkey. Dad had no clue. Mom was in on it.

We're having two turkeys this year since we have family visiting from abroad. One my sister is making and the other we ordered from a Brazilian restaurant . Mr Bee: maybe you guys can order one !

Yes! I got guilted into hosting Thanksgiving so the turkey is the one thing I'm cooking! I'm super nervous, but I've gotten tons of advice from the internet and you guys, so I think it'll be okay!

My mil hosts Thanksgiving dinner every year. I'll take advantage of it for as long as I can.

We're hosting Thanksgiving (3x in a row, I think it's become tradition). This year there will be around 20+ppl, but it's pot-luck style. I'll be making the green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, baked macaroni & cheese, and pumpkin pie squares. DH will make the turkey.

We're hosting thanksgiving! It's nice to not have to travel!! We'll see how we feel after having a full house with both sets of parents. Hope everyone has a great holiday, I must say Thanksgiving is my favorite for sure.

My husband and I cook Thanksgiving dinner every year for a homeless veteran’s shelter in our town (it’s a home vs. a large shelter, so there are usually 8-12 veterans there for the dinner).
We will make:
Turkey
Gravy
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes
Green bean casserole
Mac and Cheese
Cranberry sauce
Roasted veggies (squash, yams, asparagus)
Dinner rolls
Pies (and maybe cookies)
Basket of hot cocoa/tea/coffee/other goodies
We make all that Wednesday/Thursday morning, then head up to my parents house, where my mom makes our Thanksgiving dinner every year. Only thing I will bring to that is green bean casserole, because my mom hates it and refuses to make it haha

@yoursilverlining: That is amazing! What a wonderful thing to do!
We will be going to a friend's for Thanksgiving so no turkey making for me. I'm doing an apple pie and a pumpkin cheese cake. And my friend for some reason hates making mashed potates so I'm in charge of those too. Which is super easy now that I have my stand mixer!

Yep. Along with nearly everything else. We are hosting 9 people. I think it is manageable, but still challenging.
Thankfully SO has been incredibly helpful this week so far, and will be a huge hand on the actual day as well, I'm sure. Thank goodness for helpful husbands I would be a hot mess otherwise on Thanksgiving.

We're hosting for the first time this year! So hopefully my turkey doesn't end up as an epic fail.

Yep! We are hosting my side of the (immediate) family and will have 8 people at our house. We're doing 2 turkeys (one in the oven, one in the smoker) and all of the sides minus fresh rolls and green bean casserole. My husband goes a little overboard... It should be fun.

I just picked up an 18 lb bird along with all the usual Thanksgiving fixins! Bird's gonna go into the brine tomorrow and will be ready for roasting on Thursday!

Yes, even though we're vegetarian! We're making one for the non-veggie people that are coming. Plus lentil loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, cauliflower, peas, cornbread, cranberry sauce...
And of course pumpkin, apple, pecan, and berry pie!

We're going to make a small turkey for the two of us. It'll be a small, quiet day for us.
