Mr Bee's composting blog post made me wish I wasn't so creeped out by worms - I would love to start a compost bin! Alas, I am deathly scared of worms and snakes... *shudders*

Snakes don't gross me out, but they scare the sh*t out of me. I'll probably have a nightmare just because you brought this up.

@MrsMcD: haha I'm sorry! I saw a snake slither by when I was walking my dog and I almost had a nervous breakdown.

Nope, neither bother me! I've worked with worms regularly as a zookeeper (bird food) and snakes (non-venemous only!) both as a zookeeper and a vet tech. I have our snake handling lab at school in a couple weeks, that's always lots of fun!

@pinkcupcake: DH is so afraid... he makes me walk in front of him on trails. One of his few downsides.

I'm not a fan of snakes, but I'm OK with worms. However, my issue with that post was more than they were INSIDE, yuck I guess you do what you gotta do when you have limited space!

I'm not grossed out by them. Like I can be near worms and snakes without it bothering me. If I had gloves or had a shovel I can move worms but I would not want to pick up a worm with my bare hands...hate the way they feel and wiggle around. If someone had a snake - like at the zoo - I would be fine and have no problem touching it. If I saw a snake loose outside I would freak the F out

@MrsMcD: I don't blame him! My husband grew up in NYC so he had never seen a snake outside of the zoo... he saw one on a trail a couple days ago and I had no idea he could shriek like that. It was just a tiny garter snake, but I think he's traumatized for life.

@lemondrop: Snake handling lab?? Oh my goodness, that just sent shivers up and down my spine!!
@sandy: You are a braver woman than I am. I can't garden because the worms freak me out.
@Mrs.Someone: Yes! I would want the lid taped down tight with heavy duty tape... otherwise I would have nightmares of worms jumping out of the tub.

I never even though about being bothered by worms. They can't move fast or "get you" in any way. But crickets are nasty. I recently encountered a california potato bug a.k.a. jerusalem cricket and thought for sure we were being invaded by tiny deadly aliens.

@pinkcupcake: this bin is pretty tall, so there's half a foot of air between the soil and the top of the bin. Worms can't jump so it hasn't been an issue yet... we'll probably add a lid eventually though.

@mrbee: yeah, the totally logical part of me knows that worms can't jump and they can't slither up the side of the bin... but the crazy lady in me won't listen to the logical part
@MrsMcD: I just googled California potato bug. I wish I could un-see that.

@pinkcupcake: Imagine coming face to face with it after tripping on the sidewalk. I died 100 times over in those few moments.

I am kinda grossed out by worms. I'm not so much grossed out by snakes as I am kinda afraid of them.

@pinkcupcake: I had a thread about it. Half hilarious half FML. I'm in Pittsburgh.

I can't even say the word worm to DH or he just gets grossed out! They don't bother me in the abstract, but in reality, ewwwww!

I guess all creepy crawlers creep me out, but insects with legs would bother me more. I don't think I could touch any insects.
