I think room temp is ok for 6-8 hours but I usually put it in the fridge ASAP.

Yep. I used to leave some out if I knew the kids would drink within 4-6 hours!

@chopsuey: ok, it is a pain to warm it later!

Yes, I leave it out if he is going to drink it in that time frame. Usually I put it in the fridge until about an hour before bottle time, unless we are going out (then I pull it out right when we leave). If it has been left out for a few hours and doesn't get used, I have no problem putting it back in the fridge either. you can tell when it is bad....if it hasn't separated and smells/tastes fine I go with it.

I think I always threw it in the fridge.... I usually had older milk already waiting in the fridge that I wanted to use up first.

I'd leave it out if I knew I was going to be adding more to that pump to make a full bag for the freezer later that day.

I always put it in the fridge, but that's because I rarely am going to give it to Xander anytime soon - usually I pump for the next day or to be frozen!
But if I knew it was going to be used within the timeframe, I'd leave it out!

@autumnlove: I always leave out enough for the next bottle (I'm an exclusive pumper) and at night I fill two bottles and keep them next to my bedside (my baby still wakes up a LOT at night). we don't have the heat on at all and the house is probably 66 or so degrees at night so I figure it's fine to go 8-9 hours. No problems yet!

I would often take a bottle of freshly pumped milk out and about with us because then I did not have to warm it!
