No. I joined meetup looking for moms groups and found a local one that has like 247 members, so I thought maybe they did things I'd be interested in and "applied" to join and was accepted... but it seems like all their "events" are like, "coffee at angie's house" which seem to be attended by the same 5-10 people. So, I'm kind of confused as to whether this is just a clique within the group or if they actually want "randoms" to join??? The few events that seem to be more public are like meeting up for swimming or skating. I only have a six week old, so she's not quite ready for that.

Yes. It's hit and miss, though. Lots of stuff has been geared toward younger babies lately.

@Sapphiresun: I think maybe you just need to go and see what the vibe is like... if it's posted on the site, it's intended to be a public event... otherwise they would have just planned it amongst themselves. I have gone to those types of events and found people very, very welcoming. It seems easier to get to know people when it's a smaller group in a more intimate setting, like someone's house. That being said, I imagine it is sort of hit or miss... but I have had good luck. Maybe it's worth a try?

ETA: I started to go to meetups in peoples homes when my LO was about 2 months old. I told them, "I know this is more for me than her" and they totally understood... most were like, "Yeah, I was going stir crazy during my maternity leave."

Yeah, I'm part of a few neighborhood ones. I attend their weekend or Mom's night events.
