Since starting daycare four months ago, my 2 year old has been out sick at least 50% of the time, and has caught three or four bad virus taking hi out for two weeks at a time. As soon as he returns, he gets immediately sick again. I'm wondering if this has to do with my daycare's questionable hygiene practices. These include:

- Not washing hands immediately before eating - they wash hands, then go sit on the floor before eating (of course this means they all touch the floor).
- Not always using soap to wash hands.
- Washing the kids' hands and faces one after another without washing off the teacher's hands in between.
- Not using gloves to give the kids snacks (always finger foods, so they are touching the foods), and the teachers not always washing their hands before doing this.
- And, most seriously disturbing which I witnessed today: while giving the kids cupcakes (for a birthday), one teacher licked frosting off her fingers and continued serving the cupcakes to the kids. Gag.

Otherwise, the teachers are really great, but these hygiene practices (or lack thereof) really disturb me. Admittedly I am a germaphobe, but I don't want LO exposed to more than he has to be, and there is domes bad stuff out there. (Not to mention when kids go to school when they clearly shouldn't because they are sick.)

Is your daycare cleaner? Do they do any of these things?
