This has come up with my family (my mother doesn't believe in hand sanitizer) and I'd just love some validation if I can get some haha

I'm not a super clean person or a germaphobe or anything, but yeah I pretty much do wash with soap and water after every change. Only exception would be if it's a dry diaper and I truly don't feel I touched anything. I guess to me it feels just like after I use the bathroom myself.

I wash with soap and water each time. I hate the way hand sanitizer feels on my hands so I don't use it.

I don't believe in hand sanitizer either Though I wouldn't normally put it that way!
I wash after poopy diaps but rarely after a pee unless I'm like directly going to eat or cook right after.

I wash with soap and water after every change unless I'm in a pinch for some reason (like I changed her in the car) and then I use hand sanitizer and try to wash as soon as I get someplace with a sink. I think hand sanitizer should only be used when a sink isn't available.

I wash with soap and water after every change and then put on lotion, I go through lots of soap and lotion lol. I don't like how hand sanitizer feels either so I try not to use it but have it in the diaper bag for when I'm not able to wash my hands. My husband says I have ocd, I say I'm a bit of a clean freak

I wash after every poopy diaper (sometimes santizer and soap and water), but I don't ALWAYS after a wet diaper. Usually then I just use sanitzer.

I'm going to be the first one to 'fess up to being gross - I don't. I'm careful with the wipes - if I ever feel like I touched anything then I do, but otherwise nope.

Yes for poop. But not always for wet. I do wash my hands before cooking or handling food. But I'm basically the opposite of a germaphobe.

Nope unless it's a particularly gross one. I don't ever touch anything other than the wipe.

Hand sanitizer is not something I really do after changing a diaper. I wash my hands. During the winter they do get really dry especially if I'm washing more often because of cold/flu season. I used to think if it was just pee and I was really careful, but nah, now I wash every time. Some huge number of infants supposedly carry c. diff in their systems too, so that's fun.

Is it extra gross if I've never even thought about washing my hands after a diaper change unless I know I got something icky on them?

We had the changing table in the bathroom, so it was easy to wash after every change. Were there times I didn't wash? Probably, I am human.

I wash after every change even in the middle of the night (my 5 month old is still a 4 am pooper, ugh) BUT I am nuts about hand washing. Like, not in a good way.

We're potty trained now, but I did hand sanitizer after every poopy diaper, and only washed if I actually got poop on my hands.

I have hand sanitizer right there so I do that first and then wash after.

I wash after every poopy diaper, but not after every wet diaper. I'll use a wipe if I've touched something on the diaper itself.

I would never use hand sanitizer. I only wash my hands when I clean his cloth diapers and if I actually touch poop. I believe in building up immunity

I use hand sanitizer after doing the diaper change. When we make it downstairs or after the diaper change downstairs, I'll wash my hands. Hand sanitizer helps to bridge between diaper change and hand washing depending on managing two kids at the same time.
