A friend of min commented that it was a must have for her to be clean and up-to-date down in her vagina area before baby arrived. I never thought about it but want some input. Also how the heck do you do that at almost 37 weeks prego? I can barely see down there!

I wax up to my due date. Frankly, all the discharge and goo and blood was nasty so I prefer no fuzz. Plus if you have a c section, my doc said she'll shave you and it isn't exactly a spa in the operating room lol.

I got waxed every 5-6 weeks throughout pregnancy. Definitely worth it!

My opinion is (and has been for the past few years) who cares! I haven't given it a second thought.

I shaved down there both times when my labor started. With all the blood and stuff afterwards, I just felt better being clean shaved down there. First time DH helped me. Second time, I used a mirror. It wasn't easy! Lol

i was waxing regularly, but had an appt a few days after my due date because i was convinced DD was going to be late. nope, she came 4 days before her EDD, so i was definitely not cleaned up and honestly, i didn't care at all!

I shave regularly while pregnant and make sure to do my best job prior to c-section. If you don't
a nurse will do it for you with a crappy bic razor and to me that would be very awkward. As far as how to do it, it's a lot of feeling around and muscle memory but I know some wives who had their husband do it. -
I was induced early and my legs weren't even shaved. Whatevs!

I didn't bother for most of pregnancy, and by the time my due date was close I had to do something about it because good lord. Had to get DH to do it in the end as I could barely even reach, let alone see the area - god knows what sort of a job he did!

I wasn't because I was on bed rest but then I ended up unexpectedly on an operating table, fully naked under those horrendous lights with about 5 nurses and an anesthesiologist staring at me. It was horrifying at first but I got over it pretty quick. It's their job and they see it all the time, I'm sure they didn't give it a second thought.

I bought an electric razor to prevent nicks and made sure everything was tidy. I'm glad I did because of stitches and trying to clean everything afterwards.

I had every intention of being nice and tidy down there. Was even about to book myself in for a wax..... and then I unexpectedly had L 1 month early. LOL. In the end it didn't matter.

I was trimmed up (used a mirror) just for my own self. Can't stand Long hairs down there. As far as it mattering for l&d? Nope!

I maintain a small amount and had my husband trim mine.

I tried to shave my legs and tidy up a little before my induction, but my huge belly meant I was going in a little blind. I tried to make my husband help, but he refused!

I got waxed throughout pregnancy with the last waxing being a week or two before I delivered. I'm so glad I did...there is so much nastiness that comes out of you. I don't think the doctors and nurses care at all, but for my own self I'm glad I was cleaned up.

After a certain point, I just kinda blindly shaved down there and hoped I did a good job lol DH refused to help me and I'm not down with waxing. So it was kind of cleaned up but I'm sure it didn't look that great lol. The only reason I'm glad I kept up with it is because I hate wiping over and over to make sure all blood is cleaned up out of the regrowth. (Gross I know.) It just made PP bleeding feel cleaner.

It is actually somewhat discouraged right before delivery because shaving causes tiny tears.

Our hospital recommend no pubic grooming at all after 30 weeks to lessen infection in case of emergency sections.

Nope. I didn't worry. But I had several sessions of laser hair removal years ago so it's really not bad. But for c sections they do shave you. I didn't worry since I knew they were going to do that anyway.

Just something to consider for those with planned sections: I groomed with my first & was shaved with a bic razor in the OR. I didn't have any problems during recovery.
With my second, I also had a planned section. I was on team who cares throughout pregnancy, so I admit it was every man for himself down there. I was shaved with an electric razor in pre-op and it was so itchy before surgery even started.
I've had 4 ingrown hairs since then, one when I was 6 days PP that got so infected I was in excruciating pain and had to be seen by my OB twice because it was right on my incision line. It hurt more than my actual c-section recovery.
Moral of the story: GROOM. Groom. Groom.

I don't understand the desire to look neat and tidy for labor. Nothing is attractive about L+D. No one who is looking down there cares. I wasn't "groomed," and had no cleanliness issues after delivery either. But, I think a bare vajay looks prepubescent, so I'm not a fan of that at any time.

I wound up trimming things pretty short post partum because it was easier to keep clean. As far as delivery though I didn't care one bit what it looked like.

I got waxed two weeks before my water broke. My friend is a nurse at the hospital and said it doesn't matter and the nurses don't care but you have to have a c section they will shave you. That freaked me out since I get rashes and ingrown hairs really easily.

I did take extra time to shave down there before but it's more bc I know I wouldn't be doing that for a while; not so much for other ppl to see haha

I did, I am glad because the "recovery" and all that goes on there is not pretty, and I feel like it made..... cleaning more tolerable.... sorry TMI

I shaved while I was I early labor. I couldn't sleep so I took a shower, shaved everything (cut my darn ankle because I was rushing and had to see that stupid ankle bandaid while pushing), dried my hair straight, put on makeup, and sat around till 5 am when I finally decided DH had slept enough, and I wanted some company.

Nope. It was a free-for-all down there. In hindsight, I wish I had at least trimmed it up like normal.

My DD was breeched through pregnancy so I knew I would have a C-section. I was advised to shave or it will be done for me before OR. I shaved myself the night before my scheduled C section. I couldn't see much but did it by touch and feel. I am use to it and was glad I did it. I think if it was done at the hospital, there's a chance pubic hair would still be on the hospital bed you operate on. I didn't want to take any chances. For me, it wasn't for looks, it was more of trying to keep it clean.

I didn't care too much but I did try to trim and keep it somewhat neat. I agree it helps with the aftercare to at least be somewhat trimmed.

I had DH to shave me once every week to week and a half. I never have liked hair down there and knew I wouldn't feel god if it was hair done there after labor.

I got a wax the week before with #2. With #1 I had some 1970s action going on. It didn't matter to me either way.

I regularly sugar about every 6 weeks and will continue to do so throughout my pregnancy. I am planning to go for my last appointment around a week or two before I'm due. I've always sugared or shaved so it would feel a bit weird for me to just let things go.

DH helped me on that aspect
When the OB started my c/s she commented "oh you are already shaved, guess I don't need to do it"
