We bought our house in this school district so we could send our kids to public.

Public starting this year for kinder. They will have preschool at our church which is a private preschool/elementary. And man can I tell you that this was a whole new area of mommy wars that I was not ready for. I have had several moms wince and shake their heads when I say My son is going to school down the street.

Public. We moved to this neighborhood because of the great schools. If we lived somewhere else with mediocre schools, we'd probably go private.

Public most likely. I'm considering sending her to private kindergarten so she won't be almost six when she starts.

Public. I am a product of public education and I managed not to be a screwup.
When we lived abroad, we had also made the decision to "go native" for schools since the public system is so good.

Private if we can afford it but I wont be upset if she has to go public.

public. though i have to say homeschooling is tempting! mostly just because i want to keep my lo with me.

I love public school and totally believe in their educational systems, however, because we want our LO's education to be religion based, we are choosing a private Islamic school.

Private... since we live abroad, we would send them to international school that followed the US curriculum. This way, it would be an easier adjustment if we were to move back to the States.

Public. We have great schools in our community. I've thought about home schooling, but I probably won't.

public, we have good public schools in this area, plus we would never be able to afford private.

Likely public - I don't know that I could accept the additional cost

It depends on a variety of factors including where we live, our financial resources, and what's available to us. I have gone to both, and I think going to both was a good mix for me.

Public school. We bought in a great school district for that reason.

Public. I've thought about homeschooling but I don't think I'd do too good of a job

Private, but only because we live in a country where we don't speak the native language. DS will either go to a French or English speaking school when the time comes. Right now he is in a bilingual German/English preschool.
DH and I both went to public school for K-12. I went to a private university and he to a public one.

I'd like to go private since I went to catholic/private school pre-k through high school.
My Husband went to a public elementary school, and I may be willing to send my kid to public school for a few years, but I'd prefer the smaller class sizes of private schools.

I'll prob do a combination depending on which schools are best at the time.

@BKCaribBaby: yes, I live in the Los Angeles school district and many people who can afford it look for better options. I went through the school district and taught in it so I really think public education can be great. It just feel awful when people make remarks about how bad it will be. When I said James was starting at kindergarten at our home school one of the mentor moms in my mothers group (yeah, mentor mom, the ones who are supposed to help guide us am support us) said "well, you get what you pay for". I was so shocked I couldn't say anything.

Undecided. We don't own a house and we don't know how long we will be living where we are right now.

There's no way we could afford private school tuition, long term - we'll be happy if we can fund four years of university! That being said, I would love to make Waldorf preschool/kinder work, financially, but we will have to see.
Personally, I work in the public school system, and really believe in it. I'm a product of public schools (all the way through college), and feel I received a very well-rounded, quality education.

Pro-public school here since I went to one and taught in one. We bought in a good school district so that we would be able to send LO there.

Definitely public - a) I'm a public school teacher b) I strongly believe in the public school system c) there are no private schools in my area, lol

Well it's technically not a 'public' school but it's not private either. We have 3 differen school boards, Public, Catholic and French Catholic. Even though we are not catholic, she will be going to the French Catholic school. They are all funded by public tax dollars and we don't have to pay for tuition, but it's not our local "public" school. There are only a few turely private schools within 1.5 hour drive from our home. One is super pricey and 45 minutes away, the other is an islamic school, neither of which makes sense for us.

We will most likely send out to public school. We live in a bad school district right now. But by the time our children are school age we will move before then!

Undecided. There are some good charter schools in our area. If we could afford it I'd love to do montessori for the first few years.
If we move to a better district though I'm not opposed to public.
