My parents never read to me so I'm not sure? Do you stop when they are pretty good at reading on their own?

@Andrea: I can't wait to segue to longer books... and then we can read a chapter every evening!
I guess though that at some point, the kids will just want to read on their own just like you said... ahh, that will be a day of mixed emotions for sure!!

@mrbee: like with everything else, I expect that she'll turn to me one day and say "I want to read by myself". Mixed emotions for sure!

@Andrea: Trying to decide which will sting more: being told not to read any more, or being asked not to hold their hand in front of their friends from school!!
