Wahhhhh. DS is 10.5 months old and has always had wonky sleep. He will do great for a while and then not-so-great. He is breastfeed still and I have always (and his pedi agrees) chalked his wake ups to a sort of reverse cycle where he nurses more frequently at night to make up for what he doesn't nurse during the day. He is a great daytime napper and has a solid bedtime routine and is an overall very happy baby.

However, he wakes up nearly down to the exact minute at the same times every night! He goes down typically by 730. He wakes up at 1245, an occasional 145, usually 3, and 530. Most nights it's the 1245 and 3a wakeups.

I have tried letting him cry at night but he gets really, really hysterical. He will scratch his head and ear and occasionally will make it bleed. Occasionally he'll have a huge poopy diaper in the middle of the night so I always go check on him at the very least. When I do get up with him, I nurse him for about 10-15 minutes until he calms down and goes back to sleep. Lately, I've been putting him down and he's been crying and then I got to bed, he cries for so long I can't sleep, and then I get back up and nurse him again.

I am exhausted. I'm pregnant with number 2 and one of my biggest fears is that I am going to have an awful night time sleeper and a newborn on top of that and solo parenting I can't tend to both. Nursing has become more and more painful and I've been trying to wait for the pain to subside. I've read tons of posts and threads on sleep training and I just can't decide if it's for me or not...but I literally don't know what else to do.
