The ATL news is reporting that some kids (elementary aged) may have to sleep at school because the roads are so icy and the traffic is so bad. That is crazy! Some people have been on the road for hours, I guess they figure by the time they get them home, it won't have been worth it. Makes you wonder if they should have just canceled school yesterday. Then again sometimes they cancel school and there ends up being no snow.

Oh no poor kids! Hope they don't have any power outage, that would be the worst! Praying for those kids to be home with their family soon. I would have let my kids stay home or come in later after we get a feel of the weather.

Thankfully my school system did close school (I'm out even though I'm at a daycare b/c we're paid by the state.) MY kid wouldn't be sleeping at school. I'd find a way to get them, or just not have went. ALTHOUGH, I didn't think any snow would come myself. Sometimes they say it's coming an nothing happens.lol

yyyyeah, as a teacher I can't fathom this. I really can't. I have my own baby to get home to, not to mention there would be no food for dinner or breakfast. And I EP. Personally, I don't care if it takes every 2-3 hours to get home, there would be no staying overnight in the school.

My friend said her coworker is sleeping at school with 250 kids cause the buses stopped running and parents can't get there.

It took me (a little more than) 4 hours to get my LO home from daycare. That makes me sad for the families. :(. I'm glad they're all safe, but mercy that's stressful!

As a teacher the thought of speeding the night at school sounds awful. Those worried about them eating. The cafeteria doesn't get stocked on a day by day basis. There should be food in the building for people to eat. Places to sleep might be more questionable.

As awful as spending the night at the school sounds (for teachers, for the parents who can't get to their kids) I would still prefer that than what the driving conditions sound like. I'm pretty uncomfortable driving in snow and ice, and it sounds like it's really terrible there plus people aren't used to it.

@cmomma17: Not much where I was. Maybe an inch at my house. ATL traffic is awful everyday. Throw in snow, schools getting at the same time, so everyone leaves work, equals hell.
