My husband has a loaner car from the dealership (Audi Q5) we need to install our carseat and can't figure out if there is a tether for rear facing?

Latch or tether? RF tether is optional, and only a few seats allow it in the US. The manual should have a diagram of latch positions.

For the most part seats are not tethered rear facing in the us. My seat (Nextfit) doesn't allow it so when I instslled to in my sisters q5 I did not tether. Hope that helps.

There is latch for rear facing in the Q5. That's my car!
I don't know exactly what to tell you in how to do it, but it should be in the manual and on you tube.
