@PEAPIE, @Torchwood, @littlek, @mrs.bird, @LindsayInNY, @tbuzz, @SupernovaJ, @jhd, @Tundra Daisy, @SweetiePie: Thank you so very much everyone!!! I really appreciate all the love!
@Mae: Congratulations lady!
@buttermilk: So sorry to hear about AF showing up. Boo to her. FX for your next cycle. But you did get some good practice in!
@MRSHONEYBEAR: Congratulations!!!! Hip hip hooray!!!
@Littlebit: FX for you! This past cycle, I did not have any real symptoms, so this could be a good sign! I had way more symptoms the months I wasn't pregnant. I also experienced a sore throat and just general aches, like I might be getting sick.

So, this is definitely going to be showing everyone was a newbie I am to this whole I am pregnant thing...but what the heck am I supposed to do now! I have been doing some research to find a ob gyn. The one I normally go to is only a GYN, so she isn't going to be delivering any babies. I read online that most places won't see you until you are 8-10 weeks along....is this true? Or is an appointment needed sooner? Eeek, so many questions. Hope my friends here can help!

@MRSHONEYBEAR: Congrats!!
@ellewoods84: Every office is different. My office saw me at 6 weeks and did a test to verify the pregnancy. Then ultrasound at 8-9 weeks.

@ellewoods84: Come hang out with us in the April boards!
I would call around now. It may take 2 weeks for them to get you in. If you are doing the first trimester screening (ultrasound to look for indicators for issues) then that HAS to be done between 11-13 weeks. So you want to make sure you have an OB before then.

@ellewoods84: I'm no expert on this but my sister went at 6 weeks. When I asked my dr about it last month he told me to get a blood test right away because I have a thyroid condition and they will need to adjust medication. So I'd say if you have no health issues, 6-7 weeks is what they usually tell you.

@ellewoods84: I had no clue what to do either! I emailed my doc sort of like ummmmm what now? haha. Luckily she also does ob so I can stick with her. She seems pretty chill but she is having a nurse call me at some point to talk through do's and don'ts and then i have an ultrasound scheduled to date the baby and do blood work when i should be 7w5d. Even if a doc doesn't want to see you for a bit they may want to schedule your appointment now, so I'd call sooner rather than later

@MRSHONEYBEAR: Congratulations!!!!
@ellewoods84: I would definitely call asap. They tend to book up pretty far out. And a lot of times they won't schedule an ultrasound or anything until you've come in and just given a urine sample so they can confirm you're really pregnant. I guess they don't trust us to know how to read pregnancy tests. If you don't care for the doctor you pick the first time, you have plenty of time to find another.

Omg you guys are thr best! I ask a question and so much helpful information, I love it!
@Smurfette: okay, thanks for the info!
@T.H.O.U.: I will join you ladies! I think I will be a very late April mama. I will definitely find a doctor by then!
@Lugrey508: alright sounds good. I don't have any health issues that I know about, so thanks for the info! Also, I don't think I ever said hi and welcome!! Good luck this upcoming cycle
@Mae: lol, I am glad I am not the only one! Good thing you can just stick with your same dr! I will definitely call sooner than later.
@Torchwood: lol, I have taken so many tests at this point, I think I have the reading down! And that is so true, if I don't like them, I can switch! Thanks for your help!
papaya / 10343 posts
It's sort of interesting how differently docs can approach this! My doc doesn't have you come in for blood or urine or anything to confirm. I told them I took a digital test and they were like, great congrats we'll get you scheduled for an u/s!

@ellewoods84: Normally, they wait till your 8 - 10 weeks to see you. That being said, I would start searching for an OB and when you find one you like, call and get an appointment. They tend to book up way in advance. Congrats again!!
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@Mae: Mine was the same way. They said HPT are so good nowadays, they don't even give the pee test to confirm.

@littlek: yeah, I started researching a couple days ago. Such a drag to have find a new one! Thanks for your help!
@Lugrey508: thanks!!!
@Smurfette: yeah, I am sure she can! But her offices are closed on Fridays, so just wanted to make sure I was doing everything I was supposed to. I will call her up on Monday. Thanks for the suggestion!

@ellewoods84: Do you have any mommy friends or neighbors? They can be a good resource to in finding an OB.

So I have a question for all you ladies.... I'm currently 7 dpo and besides a few cramps here and there, I've felt pretty good. But naturally Ive been checking online for all the info I can about ttc. Especially with a thyroid disorder. DH is clueless.. Maybe it's hormones or just me but I've been getting so upset with him, he asks me questions but he won't read up on anything online himself . How nice would it be for him to say hey honey, did you know .... Or so I read this and thought maybe it would help ... So question being how do I get him to be more involved ? Or is it just a lost cause ?I did tell him last night that maybe he could look it up and tell me what he finds and his answer was, well I'm sure you already looked it up so why can't you just tell me !! Arghh

@Lugrey508: *blanket statement ahead* : Yeah, men tend to be pretty clueless when it comes to TTC info. I wouldn't take it too personally that he's not 100% enthralled with the process
watermelon / 14206 posts
@Lugrey508: Yeah, it's a mystery to men that they usually don't care to know all the details about until it gets serious. It's hard for them to connect to it sometimes.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@MRSHONEYBEAR: Yayy!! Congrats!!!
@Lugrey508: DH is involved with TTC in the bedroom and that's it so I would consider it lucky that he even talks about it!
@ellewoods84: I had to find a new practice last time too so I asked for recommendations from a local board and by doing some research online. I called the new practice and they scheduled me for 8 weeks which was totally fine. Good luck!

@doxielove: clueless is right !.. Thought maybe there was a magic trick to snap him out of it lol
persimmon / 1388 posts
@Lugrey508: Not that I know of! If you find one, please let me know LOL. I still have to repeatedly tell DH that, no, I do NOT ovulate more than 1x/month. Silly man thinks there's multiple chances per month to get pregnant. lol. <<and that's after giving him excerpts of TCOYF to read *sigh*
bananas / 9899 posts
@Lugrey508: My husband only started doing his own research recently. I think men tend to approach this whole TTC thing from a different angle.
What kind of thyroid condition do you have? I am hypothyroid, but it's been managed well with Synthroid.
cherry / 202 posts
@skipra: Haha he was only asking because he wants to go away next weekend for this skydiving + zipline adventure thing and I had to remind him... Well I may be pregnant by then !! Is that something I should be doing ? If he looks it up and shows me proof it's ok then I'll do it if not , I'll take the pics from the ground !
cherry / 202 posts
@pui: I have Hashimoto thyroiditis ... I was on 175 mcg just recently reduced to 137 but despite my hopes , it does not mean its going away lol my dr laughed at that one

@Lugrey508: Skydiving during the TWW lol I haven't heard any info on that yet! My guess would it would probably be fine.
bananas / 9899 posts
@Lugrey508: Aw The good news is that many women still conceive and have healthy babies with thyroid issues! Do you know what you TSH is?
