@Lugrey508: That's good! My last blood test had me in to hyper so they lowered my Synthroid slightly... I get my new blood test mid September.
cherry / 202 posts
@pui: good luck !! I hold my breathe every time I have to get blood work . It's even harder to add pre natal vitamins to the mix . Synthroid in the am pre natal in the pm ... Prescriptions each month are starting to get expensive and I'm not even that old yet !
bananas / 9899 posts
@Lugrey508: Yeah for the last few days it's been prenatal in the AM, Clomid midday and Synthroid before bed lol.

@Lugrey508: I think a lot of guys just have a more relaxed approach about TTC...I know my DH is pretty clueless. He still thinks that having sex any day of the month could result in a BFP even though I've told him 20 times, and showed him articles, that state there's only a couple day window. If it takes us longer than 6 months I'd probably start pushing for him to 'do' more...like reading up on it or taking vitamins or something.
cherry / 202 posts
@Littlebit: You're right....I would love for him to take vitamins regardless but he just wont!...and he's older than me by 7 years so I keep telling him he has more than enough opportunity to outlive me if he would only take his vitamins and eat his veggies

@ellewoods84: I called for an appt this morning and am going in on 9/18. I will be about 7w 2ds I think. I am kinda dying that its almost a month away. Like this won't be real until then. I had no idea what I was expecting when I called either and they said they do first appts at 6-8 weeks. Good luck finding an OB!

@Littlebit: haha do you remind him all the time like I do my DH? In the beginning when we were dating I would say wow...when you were graduating high school i was only 11 !! Your sooo old lol

@Lugrey508: Do you take a prescription prenatal? My doc prescribed me one during my preconception appointment. But I went to fill it and it was $50 for a 30day supply. I don't know what the name of the prescription was because I totally dropped the candy that I was going to buy with the prescription and just walked out completely dumbfounded. But I feel bad because I have no problem dropping $50 on most anything else. So I don't quite know what to do....

@MrsMcD: At my annual exam last year, my doctor didn't prescribe prenatals. I take a multivitamin and fish oil as it is. So she told me to add folic acid and calcium/vitamin D. Basically a made up prenatal equivalent
cherry / 202 posts
@MrsMcD: the first pre natal I was taking last year was Thera natal core nutrition . My gyno said to take before we start trying to conceive because of a fam history of spina bifida. That was $15 for 3 months. All I had to do was sign up online with an access code and it was mailed to me every 3 months. I recently changed becAuse a friend said I should have dha ... So I asked for something new and he called in something called PNV-OB with DHA and its $30 for 30 ... I'm not sure if its more than that my insurance usually has a $30 copayment for most prescriptions unless its less ( never usually is ). But I like the new one no problems yet . I know it's expensive but I would rather know I'm trying to be the healthiest I can be and hopefully it's only for less than a year . Maybe replace the hair dye cost I won't be able to do once I am pregnant !!

@Lugrey508: I think if you don't want to go then it's definitely not safe! But if you did, I'm sure it would be fine. BTW how are you doing having the FRER around? DH took today off of work and will be around all weekend so I'm hoping that will keep me from wasting it!
@MrsMcD: My doctor never gave me a prescription prenatal. I've been taking an OTC one since I found out I was pg with DS and I love it. It's made from foods and has ginger which helps with the nausea that prenatals can cause. My stomach can handle them much better than most vitamins and they only cost a fraction of your prescription. http://www.amazon.com/Rainbow-Light-Prenatal-Multivitamin-tablets/dp/B00115BJ30/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377294270&sr=8-1&keywords=just+one+prenatal

@mrsog: We're almost due date twins!! That makes me so happy. Especially (irrationally) because i your avatar so much haha. My first appt is on 9/19 at 7w5d and I feel exactly the same way. Like omg that is SO FAR AWAY and also this does not feel real until i see it on the u/s.

@Lugrey508: Oh gees... are you not going to dye your hair once you are pregnant? I think I would give up food before I give up driving 80 miles round trip every 6 weeks for nice hair dying experience. I don't know if I'm in the camp of "no dying hair during pregnancy" quite yet. I'd basically look like trash if I quite dying it. Please let me know why you aren't dying it. I may start a separate thread about this.
cherry / 202 posts
@MrsMcD: I've had a lot of time to read about this since my sister was pregnant first so she educated me on alot ! She is also very organic so I'm not sure if this is how everyone feels but this is some of what I've read:
you shouldn’t color your hair during the first three months of pregnancy. While there is no real data showing harm, this is a sensitive period during which the baby’s organs are being formed, and toxic substances could pass through the mother’s blood into the placenta and into the baby.
Even after that, it’s recommended that you use gentler semipermanent tints rather than harsh permanent chemical dyes.
She would even use this special organic nail polish because that can also be absorbed into your skin through your nails.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@Lugrey508: I am totally not an organic kind of person. Although I do use shampoo and conditioner that was designed for people with cancer. I won't live under or within eye sight of power lines. But I don't know about hair dye.... (says the brunette who forever wants to be thought of as a natural blonde)
cherry / 202 posts
@MrsMcD: I'm not fully on board with complete organic lifestyle I do eat only organic dairy and chicken! I think it's a good first step. And while I do dye my hair at get manicures, I would hate for her or the rest of my vegetatian all natural family to judge me for not following the same path.
papaya / 10343 posts
@MrsMcD: I went and got my hair dyed the day after I found out so... you're not alone! I did google around a bit but there didn't seem to be any data supporting it being harmful to the baby. My personal feeling (at this very early stage) is that a person could drive themselves crazy protecting themselves from every theoretical harm... but I'd rather just go with the data that is out there and try to lead a somewhat normal life.

Yay to the new BFP :))) It was my first week back to school, sooo busy and sooo much...kind of good took my mind of things and well....BAM I am on my way for my first IUI and another in Sunday :))) So excited! This thread is sooo positive and I think you all lend a hand in that!

@Lugrey508: I kept coloring my hair when I was pregnant and I was fine.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@MrsMcD: I colored my hair while pregnant and was fine. My OB said there was nothing wrong with continuing to color your hair while pregnant.
nectarine / 2527 posts
@Lugrey508: @MrsMcD: on one of my pregnancy apps it actually says there's nothing wrong with dying your hair during pregnancy because the chemicals doesn't reach the baby it's just the smell might increase nausea so make sure the area is well ventilated that's bout it
@FaithFertility: good luck with your IUI

@littlek: It's probably fine to do , you know how crazy pushy organic ppl can be lol I may choose to do semi permanent for the first few months . Really I only need to hide some gray

DS has been sleeping like crap lately and I think we're going to put our house on the market next spring so I think we'll put ttc on hold for a month or two. I know there's never an ideal time but I don't think I can handle no sleep and first trimester fatigue. At least that was the thought yesterday...and this morning there may have been something one my Internet cheapie. I'm afraid to take the frer now.
@FaithFertility: Good luck!!!

@Lugrey508: @littlek: @Mae: @Honeygold89: thanks for all the input on the hair dye issue, girls! I think hair dye is going to be filed under my low level concerns. Now if only there was a pregnancy to cause any need for concern at all....
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Mae: I do wonder if there's not a lot of research to show dye is risky during pregnancy because there's no safe way to test it. It's the same reason they don't know how much alcohol is actually dangerous, since they can't set up a test with pregnant women drinking set amounts. That being said, I probably won't quit dying mine, and my hair person is pregnant at the moment and she definitely didn't quit working or having her hair done.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@MrsMcD: @Lugrey508: FWIW my midwife's advice about hair dye was to put it off until the second trimester and then make sure you're in a well-ventilated area...that most of the concern is in how much of the fumes you inhale. For me, I waited until 14 weeks to dye mine (at home) and even in a room with windows open/fans on the fumes made me nauseous. But then pretty much everything did...
cherry / 202 posts
@FutureMrsMcK: thank you for sharing that. I've asked a few of my friends who recently gave birth and they all said the same ... They waited until their second trimester and even still did not use a permanent dye. Maybe it's just different depending on where people live or own personal preference ? I know the smell can be harsh even for non pregnant people.
