What did you buy your LO for their first shoes? Where did you get them?
I can't decide if I want to splurge because I know good shoes are important.... you don't want something uncomfortable on your feet. But they'll grow out of them so fast!

Uggs. Hahaha. And we live in FL:) But they're mainly for newborn pics, although everyone on here who bought them for legitimate footwear loves them.
I know that's not helpful. But it's so ridiculous I have to share:)

We went to a Stride Rite outlet and bought the SRT soft motion type of shoes. We only bought one pair since they grow so fast and we also bought them a little bigger than he needed so he'd stay in the a little longer.

@jholler25: Lol, I'm in Fl too.... I don't think Uggs will be our first pair of shoes. But I bet they're adorable!
@pelikila: I was thinking Stride Rite, I wish we had an outlet!

Robeez before walking, because it's the only thing that stay on their feet Then I buy either See Kai Run or Little Soles. I love that they make styles that look like real shoes (but still adorable) and that they are good first walkers because they have really flexible soles.
I think it's really important to buy good shoes once they're walking, it's one of my few splurges. I look for good sales, a lot of times you can get last season's shoes for half price.

Robeez for when she was cruising around but Stride Rite now that she's in daycare and walking for realsies. I find that with Stride Rite, they are light and bendy so she can actually walk properly. Love them! I bought LO's from Winners (Canadian equivalent to TJ Maxx?).

We did Stride Right too. Baby Cheapskate is always digging up shoe deals!

Payless & stride rite are owned by the same company. You might want to look at some of Payless ones if you wanna spend less than the stride rite prices.

I think for a every day pair you have to splurge. But for the fun or fancy ones you can go cheaper.

Walking shoes were from Stride Rite. It was worth it to me to go to a proper store and get a measurement from a professional. I bought one pair there and ordered others online where I could get them a bit cheaper.

DD had tiny bunny newborn sized slippers in the hospital But her first real shoe shoes were Converse!

DS had a pair of robeeze and a pair of Velcro converse sneakers before he was walking but then we got him a pair of soft soled shoes from Target. The Robeeze were good and stayed on well. I got them at purocal second hand store. I couldnt see spending $30 or $40 on a name brand pair of soft soled shoes when he'd outgrow them so fast. I am surfing eBay and Craigslist, as well as checking my local second hand store for shoes for him for the fall.

@mrstilly: dh and I finally decided to go to the consignment store too. We went to stride rite to get her fitted and shoes are $40. She'll grow out of them in a couple of months and she's not even walking so she won't even get wear out of them. I'm sure the ones at the consignment store wont have much wear either. The one I go to only takes things that are name brand and in good shape.

@artbee: having a good consignment store is so handy! The one near us is very picky, so everything is in excellent shape. I just wish there was as much selection for toddlers as infants, but I guess toddlers are rougher on clothes and there is less gifting/ over-buying at that age as well.

We got a pair of velcro pumas. LOVE THOSE.
His first walking shoes Pedipeds. Loved them!

When I was six months pregnant, we passed by a babies r us that was closing - found a pair of brown sandals which looked just like a pair of sandals my husband wears (that I am NOT fond of), so had to get it just for pictures.

Our LO's are close in age. She has See Kai Run shoes and while adorable and seemingly comfortable, I don't think they were the right choice (it makes me sad). Since she's still crawling and walking, I think the added reinforcement of the wrap around sole on the toe is very practical in Stride Rite SRT's and Pediped.
I just ordered some Stride Rites from amazon.com. They were cheaper than Stride Rite directly (and there was a 20% on time coupon code for subscribing to amazon's shoe email). They ended up being about $27. Still slightly pricey, but better than $40.

FYI, I bought her shoes I went to the consignment store.... I just couldn't see myself spending $40 on shoes that she will grow out of so soon. I did go to Stride Rite to get her fitted though so I know that she's in the right size. I'm in LOVE with her new shoes, they have a soft sole and are perfect for her first pair.... for only $4.99!

@mrsjyw: Thanks! I was thinking I'd buy her something pink and flowery, but I'm glad that I ended up with these. They'll actually match all of her outfits

@artbee: Oh what a great idea! I love those - so cute! What kind are they?

I bought him a couple pairs of Pumas because you can use your 20% off coupons on them when you get them at BRU. I think I paid $26.00each...

@BabyBoecksMom: Ministar. I think you can get them at Target for around $20.

Cute shoes! We buy a lot of our baby clothing for consignment as well. I actually have to stay out of there sometimes, too many cute things.

Baby’s first shoes were bunny slippers that I bought to announce this pregnancy around Easter. Not helpful, I know!

@BoogieBea: I was lucky this time. Lo was crabby so I couldn't do too much shopping!

@artbee: Soooo cute! Great find!
I found a tons of Robeez type shoes on Ebay. They're leather and soft with cute styles and cost just the fraction of the price.
Search: "leather baby shoes" and a bunch will come up.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
They will probably be the white sandal type shoes from Stride Rite. I figure she won't need shoes until she's one.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@Crumbs: thanks, good to know for the future! They didn't have a huge selection where I went. Especially since lo's feet are so big and most kids are walking for awhile and don't needs soft soles by this time..... this was actually the only soft sole shoe they had in her size!
