Does anyone freak out that their baby is going to spit up/vomit and choke?
Or is it just me?

I do get nervous but we co-sleep so I tend to hear every little sound she makes.

Apparently, they've got a special gag reflex that stops them doing that. I've got a cheeky side sleeper (you put her on her back and she must roll somehow) so I worry some ill will come of that! I think its pre-ordained that we are going to worry.

I worried at first, but only because my mom accidentally put the thought in my head.

I think there's a billion things parents worry about with their babies, this being one of them.

That's what my MIL mentioned when I said that you're supposed to put babies on their backs to sleep, and now I'm worried about it...

I worried at first and luckily asked a nurse in the hospital about it. She rolled up a swaddle blanket and propped LO on her side. I did that at home until she started turning her head on her own.

@.twist.: I freak out about it all the time. That's the only reason why I haven't transitioned him into his crib yet. He still spits up (not at night though) but I'm too scared.

My mom was freaking out about this. But our ped said babies just swallow it back down or cough it out and it dribbles down their mouth. Definitely the case for us (also helps she sleeps on an incline)

I've never thought to worry about this! But I have seen her spit up while on her back and it just runs down the side of her face. She's never gagged on it! I wouldn't worry too much

Haha thanks for easing my worries everyone. He just started sleeping on his own so there's a lot of new worries!

I was worried about this. And asked the ped when he came to see us in the hospital. And he told me he had actually just seen LO spit up in the nursery and she was already able to turn her head and let it dribble out. I trusted him and tried not to panic about it.
